Startup Aurum Planet has received 600 million won (USD $532k) in investment from K Bridge Investment and Spring Camp for its note highlighting service Liner. Combined with funding to come from TIPS at a later stage, the company can expect up to a total of 1.3 billion won in venture capital.

Liner is currently the world’s top highlighter service in terms of both users and usage. In short, Liner lets you highlight text easily in your internet browser or on your smart device so you can keep important notes for later. Aurum Planet took the platform global from the start and currently 90% of its userbase is international. Over the past 10 months it has seen rapid growth, with usage consistently doubling every month.

To use Liner, simply download the extension program for Chrome, Firefox, Opera, Safari or Whale browser. An app is also available on iOS in over 30 countries and is often featured on the App Store, as well as Chrome’s Web Store. PDFs are supported too — including comments, and all highlights can be exported to multiple platforms such as Word, Email, Evernote and plain text.

“In ten years’ time study will continue to take place through text. Ultimately, all academic material will be consumed online, and Liner will naturally be the easiest way to highlight things for internet users,” said CEO of Aurum Planet, Jinu Kim. “Since the beginning, we have taken into account the importance of data about how people highlight with their hands and have been accumulating this data steadily.”

Son Gyun-woo of Spring Camp also commented on the investment saying, “Everyone knows that the most important resource for 4IR business innovation is data. Aurum Planet has found a way to obtain unique global data called ‘human response content’ consistently, and we look forward to what’s ahead.”
