클라우드 전문기업 가비아(공동대표 김홍국, 원종홍)가 과천시로부터 ‘과천형 GREEN 기업’ 인증을 받았다고 20일 밝혔다. 이번 인증에는 가비아를 포함해 케이아이엔엑스(KINX), 가비아CNS, 엑스게이트, 에스피소프트, 후이즈 등 전 계열사가 함께 참여하며, 그룹 차원의 ESG(환경·사회·지배구조) 경영 실천 의지를 공식화했다.
‘과천형 GREEN 기업’ 제도는 과천시가 관내 기업들의 ESG 경영 참여를 확대하고 탄소중립 문화 확산을 장려하기 위해 마련한 제도로, ‘1회용 컵 없는 과천’을 목표로 하는 친환경 정책의 일환이다. 인증은 자발적으로 친환경 활동에 참여한 민간 기업을 대상으로 수여된다.
가비아는 2023년 과천 신사옥으로 본사를 이전한 이후, 지역 친환경 캠페인에 적극적으로 참여해 왔다. 특히 친환경 소셜벤처 ‘트래쉬버스터즈’와의 협업을 통해 사내에 다회용 컵 순환 시스템을 도입했으며, 임직원의 개인 텀블러 사용도 장려하고 있다. 이 같은 일상 속 실천 활동이 높은 평가를 받아 그룹 전체가 인증 대상에 포함됐다.
기술 인프라 측면에서도 에너지 절감을 위한 노력이 병행되고 있다. 가비아는 과천 통합사옥 내 데이터센터에 고효율 공조 시스템을 적용해 연간 에너지 사용량을 약 30% 절감할 수 있도록 설계했다. AI 연산에 최적화된 고전력 인프라를 운영하면서도 에너지 효율을 높여 탄소 배출을 줄이는 것이 핵심 전략이다.
가비아는 이번 인증을 계기로 ESG 경영을 더욱 강화해 나간다는 계획이다. 클라우드 기술 기반의 에너지 효율화, 친환경 데이터센터 운영 등 본업과 연계된 지속 가능한 실천을 확대할 방침이다.
