AI 추론 플랫폼 기업 프렌들리AI(FriendliAI, 대표 전병곤)는 2천만 달러 규모의 Seed Extension 라운드 투자 유치를 완료했다고 29일 밝혔다.
이번 라운드는 캡스톤파트너스가 주도했으며, KB증권이 후속 투자자로 참여했다. 또한 미국 실리콘밸리 기반의 시에라벤처스(Sierra Ventures), 얼럼나이벤처스(Alumni Ventures), 산업은행(KDB)이 신규 투자자로 합류했다.
투자 배경에는 AI 서비스 상용화 확산에 따라 추론 시장의 급속한 성장세가 작용했다. 프렌들리AI는 대규모 AI 모델을 운영하는 기업을 대상으로 고성능·고효율 추론 솔루션을 제공하며 해당 시장에서 입지를 강화하고 있다.
프렌들리AI는 높은 인프라 비용, 느린 추론 속도, 운영 복잡성과 같은 문제 해결을 중심으로 플랫폼을 개발해왔다. 특히 자사의 추론 솔루션은 빠른 응답 속도와 GPU 비용 절감(최대 50% 이상)을 동시에 구현하며, 멀티모달 및 언어 모델 기반 AI 서비스를 안정적으로 운영할 수 있도록 지원하고 있다.
에어갭(Air-gap) 환경에서도 사용 가능한 컨테이너 기반 배포 방식을 제공해, 민감 정보가 요구되는 사내 환경에서도 제품 활용이 가능하다는 점도 강점으로 꼽힌다.

프렌들리AI는 이번 투자금을 활용해 영업 및 마케팅 역량을 강화하고, 고객 지원을 위한 인프라 확장 및 제품 개발에도 집중할 계획이다. 주요 기술 기업과의 협업 및 파트너십 확대도 병행한다.
실제로 프렌들리AI는 최근 LG AI연구원과 전략적 파트너십을 체결하고, LG의 대규모 언어모델 ‘엑사원(EXAONE)’을 API 형태로 제공하는 유일한 서비스 사업자로 선정됐다. 또한 AI 캐릭터 채팅 플랫폼 ‘제타’를 운영하는 스캐터랩, 언어모델 ‘솔라(SOLAR)’를 개발한 업스테이지 등 다양한 기업들이 프렌들리AI 플랫폼을 도입해 비용 효율성과 성능을 동시에 개선하고 있다.

Friendly AI Secures $20 Million in Investment, Expanding AI Inference Solutions
AI inference platform company FriendliAI (CEO Byung-gon Jeon) announced on the 29th that it has completed raising $20 million in a Seed Extension round of investment.
This round was led by Capstone Partners, with KB Securities participating as a follow-on investor. Silicon Valley-based Sierra Ventures, Alumni Ventures, and the Korea Development Bank (KDB) also joined as new investors.
The investment was driven by the rapid growth of the inference market, driven by the widespread commercialization of AI services. FriendlyAI is strengthening its position in this market by providing high-performance, high-efficiency inference solutions to companies operating large-scale AI models.
Friendly AI has developed a platform focused on solving challenges such as high infrastructure costs, slow inference speeds, and operational complexity. Specifically, its inference solution simultaneously delivers fast response times and GPU cost savings (up to 50% or more), supporting the stable operation of multimodal and language model-based AI services.
Another strength is that it provides a container-based deployment method that can be used even in air-gap environments, allowing the product to be utilized even in in-house environments that require sensitive information.
“As AI technology moves beyond the experimental stage and into actual operational environments, this investment will serve as the foundation for Friendly AI to fully expand its market opportunities,” said Jeon Byeong-gon, CEO of Friendly AI. “Through partnerships with global and domestic investors, we will strengthen our technological competitiveness and continue to expand customer value.”

Friendly AI plans to use this investment to strengthen its sales and marketing capabilities, expand its customer support infrastructure, and focus on product development. It will also expand collaborations and partnerships with major technology companies.
In fact, Friendly AI recently signed a strategic partnership with LG AI Research Institute and was selected as the sole service provider to offer LG's large-scale language model, "EXAONE," in API format. Furthermore, various companies, including Scatter Lab, operator of the AI character chat platform "Zeta," and Upstage, developer of the language model "SOLAR," are adopting the Friendly AI platform to simultaneously improve cost efficiency and performance.
“FriendlyAI is well-practicing the foundational technologies needed to introduce next-generation AI through scalable and efficient AI infrastructure,” said Ben Yu, partner at Sierra Ventures. “The continued market growth demonstrates that there is a huge demand for this technology.”
