의료 인공지능(AI) 기업 루닛이 스페인 발렌시아 자치주 유방암 검진 프로그램에 AI 솔루션을 독점 공급하는 계약을 체결했다.
발렌시아주는 인구 약 500만 명으로 스페인 내 인구 기준 3위, 경제 규모 4위에 해당하는 대형 광역자치단체다. 디지털 헬스케어 및 AI 진단 분야에서 선도적인 위치를 차지하고 있으며, 지난해부터 유방암 검진 프로그램에 AI 도입을 본격 검토해왔다. 이를 통해 연간 검진 대상 인원을 기존 25만 명에서 40만 명으로 확대하면서도 의료 서비스 질을 유지하는 것을 목표로 했다.
이번 사업권 운영 입찰에는 루닛을 포함한 여러 의료 AI 기업이 참여했으며, 발렌시아주는 공공 검진 시스템과의 통합성, 진단 지원 능력, 임상 효과 등을 종합적으로 평가해 루닛을 최종 사업자로 선정했다.
계약에 따라 발렌시아주의 유방암 검진 프로그램에는 루닛의 유방촬영술 AI 솔루션 ‘루닛 인사이트 MMG’와 3차원 유방단층촬영술 AI 솔루션 ‘루닛 인사이트 DBT’가 도입된다. 양측은 공급 계약뿐 아니라 조기 암 발견과 인구 건강 개선을 위한 지속적인 연구 협력도 진행할 예정이다.
서범석 루닛 대표는 이번 계약이 유럽 공공의료 시장에서의 중요한 이정표이며, AI가 필수적인 암 검진 도구로 자리잡는 전환점이 될 것으로 기대한다고 밝혔다. 또한 발렌시아주와의 파트너십이 유럽 전역으로의 사업 확장에 긍정적인 영향을 미칠 것이라고 말했다.
루닛은 이번 스페인 진출을 계기로 호주, 아이슬란드, 사우디아라비아, 카타르, UAE, 싱가포르 등 글로벌 주요 국가의 암검진 프로그램 운영을 확대하며 글로벌 시장에서 입지를 강화하고 있다.

Lunit wins contract for national breast cancer screening program in Valencia, Spain.
Medical artificial intelligence (AI) company Lunit has signed a contract to exclusively supply AI solutions to the breast cancer screening program in the autonomous community of Valencia, Spain.
The province of Valencia, with a population of approximately 5 million, is a large metropolitan area, ranking third in Spain by population and fourth in economic scale. It is a leader in digital healthcare and AI diagnostics, and since last year, it has been actively exploring the introduction of AI into its breast cancer screening program. This initiative aims to expand the annual screening target from 250,000 to 400,000, while maintaining the quality of its medical services.
Several medical AI companies, including Runit, participated in the bidding for this business license, and the state of Valencia selected Runit as the final operator after comprehensively evaluating its integration with the public screening system, diagnostic support capabilities, and clinical effectiveness.
Under the agreement, Lunit's AI mammography solution, "Lunit Insight MMG," and 3D breast computed tomography AI solution, "Lunit Insight DBT," will be implemented in Valencia's breast cancer screening program. In addition to the supply agreement, the two parties plan to engage in ongoing research collaboration to improve early cancer detection and population health.
Seo Beom-seok, CEO of Lunit, stated that this agreement marks a significant milestone in the European public healthcare market and is expected to be a turning point in establishing AI as an essential cancer screening tool. He also stated that the partnership with the Valencia region will positively impact business expansion across Europe.
With this entry into Spain, Lunit is strengthening its position in the global market by expanding its cancer screening program operations in major global countries such as Australia, Iceland, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, UAE, and Singapore.

Lunit , société d'intelligence artificielle médicale (IA), a signé un contrat pour fournir exclusivement des solutions d'IA au programme de dépistage du cancer du sein dans la communauté autonome de Valence, en Espagne.
La province de Valence, qui compte environ 5 millions d'habitants, est une grande agglomération, se classant au troisième rang en termes de population et au quatrième rang en termes d'importance économique. Leader en matière de santé numérique et de diagnostic par IA, elle étudie activement, depuis l'année dernière, l'intégration de l'IA à son programme de dépistage du cancer du sein. Cette initiative vise à porter l'objectif annuel de dépistage de 250 000 à 400 000 personnes, tout en maintenant la qualité de ses services médicaux.
Plusieurs sociétés d'IA médicale, dont Runit, ont participé à l'appel d'offres pour cette licence commerciale, et l'État de Valence a sélectionné Runit comme opérateur final après avoir évalué de manière exhaustive son intégration avec le système de dépistage public, ses capacités de soutien au diagnostic et son efficacité clinique.
