소형모듈원자로(SMR)용 센서 솔루션을 개발하는 스타트업 엑스센트리(대표 고근우)가 퓨처플레이, 서울대기술지주, 쏠리드엑스로부터 시드 투자를 유치했다고 11일 밝혔다. 투자 금액은 비공개다.
엑스센트리는 차세대 SMR의 안전성과 운용 효율성을 높이기 위한 센서 솔루션을 개발하고 있다. 해당 기술은 고온, 고방사선 등 극한 환경에서도 정밀한 측정 성능과 내구성을 유지할 수 있으며, 센서의 소형화 설계를 통해 원자로 구조 변경을 최소화할 수 있다는 점이 특징이다.
엑스센트리는 서울대학교 원자핵공학과 출신의 전문가들로 구성된 팀이 주축을 이루고 있으며, 다수의 관련 특허 출원과 정부 연구 과제를 수행한 경험을 바탕으로 기술을 고도화하고 있다.
이번 투자 유치를 계기로 엑스센트리는 기술 상용화 및 시장 진입을 본격 추진할 계획이다. 올해 안으로 국내 SMR 연구기관 및 관련 기업에 제품 공급을 시작하고, 해외 유수 연구기관과의 협업을 통한 기술 검증도 병행할 예정이다. 아울러 초기 매출 확대를 위해 글러브박스용 산소·수분 센서 시장 진출도 추진 중이다.
고근우 대표는 “엑스센트리는 차세대 원자로의 핵심 부품인 센서 분야에서 안정성과 신뢰성을 동시에 확보하는 솔루션을 제공하고자 한다”며, “이번 투자를 계기로 기술 고도화와 글로벌 시장 진출에 속도를 내겠다”고 밝혔다.
이번 투자를 주도한 퓨처플레이 전아람 수석심사역은 “차세대 SMR 분야는 아직 기술과 산업 표준이 확립되지 않은 초기 단계이지만, 이는 오히려 새로운 기술을 보유한 스타트업에게 기회가 될 수 있다”며, “엑스센트리가 가혹 환경 산업에서 실적을 확보한 후, 차세대 SMR 센서 시장에서 표준으로 자리매김할 수 있기를 기대한다”고 말했다.

Xcentry (CEO Ko Geun-woo), a startup developing sensor solutions for small modular reactors (SMRs), announced on the 11th that it has secured seed investment from Futureplay, Seoul National University Technology Holdings, and SolidX. The investment amount was not disclosed.
XCentury is developing sensor solutions to enhance the safety and operational efficiency of next-generation SMRs. This technology boasts the ability to maintain precise measurement performance and durability even in extreme environments, such as high temperatures and high radiation, and its miniaturized sensor design minimizes changes to the reactor structure.
Xcentry is led by a team of experts from the Department of Nuclear Engineering at Seoul National University, and is advancing its technology based on its experience in numerous related patent applications and government research projects.
With this investment, Xcentry plans to fully pursue technology commercialization and market entry. This year, the company plans to begin supplying products to domestic SMR research institutes and related companies, while also conducting technology validation through collaborations with leading overseas research institutions. Furthermore, to expand initial sales, the company is also pursuing entry into the oxygen and moisture sensor market for glove boxes.
CEO Koh Geun-woo said, “XCENTRY aims to provide a solution that simultaneously secures stability and reliability in the sensor field, which is a core component of next-generation nuclear reactors,” and “This investment will be an opportunity to accelerate technological advancement and entry into the global market.”
“The next-generation SMR field is still in its early stages, with no established technology or industry standards, but this could be an opportunity for startups with new technologies,” said Jeon A-ram, a senior analyst at Futureplay, who led this investment. “We hope that after XCentury secures a track record in harsh environment industries, it can establish itself as a standard in the next-generation SMR sensor market.”

XCentryは、次世代SMRの安全性と運用効率を向上させるためのセンサーソリューションを開発しています。この技術は、高温、高放射線など極端な環境でも精密な測定性能と耐久性を維持することができ、センサーの小型化設計により原子炉構造の変更を最小化できるという点が特徴だ。
エクスセントリーはソウル大学原子核工学と出身の専門家で構成されたチームが主軸を成しており、多数の関連特許出願と政府研究課題を遂行した経験をもとに技術を高度化している。
今回の投資誘致をきっかけにエクスセントリは技術商用化及び市場参入を本格推進する計画だ。今年中に国内SMR研究機関および関連企業に製品供給を開始し、海外有数研究機関との協業による技術検証も並行する予定だ。また、初期売上拡大のためグローブボックス用酸素・水分センサー市場進出も推進中だ。
コ・グヌ代表は「エクセントリは次世代原子炉の核心部品であるセンサー分野で安定性と信頼性を同時に確保するソリューションを提供したい」とし、「今回の投資をきっかけに技術高度化とグローバル市場進出にスピードを上げる」と明らかにした。
今回の投資を主導したフューチャープレイ前アラム首席審査役は「次世代SMR分野はまだ技術と産業標準が確立されていない初期段階だが、これはむしろ新しい技術を保有したスタートアップに機会になることができる」とし、「エクセントリが過酷な環境産業で実績を確保した後、次世代SMRセンサー市場で標準として位置付けた」

XCentury développe des solutions de capteurs pour améliorer la sécurité et l'efficacité opérationnelle des SMR de nouvelle génération. Cette technologie garantit des performances de mesure précises et une grande durabilité, même dans des environnements extrêmes, tels que des températures et des rayonnements élevés. De plus, la conception miniaturisée de ses capteurs minimise les modifications de la structure du réacteur.
