중소벤처기업부(장관 한성숙, 이하 중기부)는 31일 서울 영등포구 루나미엘레에서 노용석 차관 주재로 ‘방산 스타트업 챌린지 KICK-OFF DAY’를 개최하고, 10월 31일부터 11월 20일 16시까지 ‘방산 스타트업 챌린지’에 참여할 스타트업을 모집한다고 밝혔다.
이번 행사는 민간 첨단기술의 무기체계 적용이 가속화되는 가운데, 혁신 스타트업의 방산 분야 진출을 촉진하고 국내 방위산업 경쟁력을 강화하기 위해 마련됐다.
최근 글로벌 방산 시장에서는 AI, 드론 등 첨단기술을 기반으로 한 민간 스타트업들이 빠르게 성장하고 있다. 미국의 안두릴(Anduril), 유럽의 헬싱(Helsing) 등은 짧은 기간 내 주요 방산 대기업을 능가하는 기업 가치를 기록하며 주목받고 있다. 국내에서도 파블로항공, 젠젠에이아이 등 유망 스타트업이 민간과 군 시장을 아우르며 성과를 내고 있지만, 여전히 정보 접근성과 네트워크 부족으로 인해 방산 생태계 진입에는 어려움이 존재한다.
이에 중기부는 방위사업청, 방위산업진흥회와 협력해 공군·해군, 한국항공우주산업(KAI), LIG넥스원, 에이유 등 10개 방산 기업 및 기관과 함께 ‘방산 오픈이노베이션 챌린지’를 신설했다. 군 및 방산기업의 현안 과제를 스타트업이 해결하는 방식으로, 혁신 기술의 실증과 협업 기회를 제공할 예정이다.
참여를 희망하는 스타트업은 K-Startup 누리집에서 ‘방산 스타트업 오픈이노베이션 챌린지’ 모집 공고를 확인하고 신청할 수 있다. 선정된 스타트업에는 약 6천만 원 규모의 협업 자금과 컨설팅, 전문교육, 네트워킹 등 맞춤형 지원이 제공된다. 또한 협업 기관은 실증 인프라, 기술 자문, 인력 지원 등을 통해 프로젝트 수행을 지원하며, 우수 기업에는 후속 연구개발(R&D) 기회도 주어진다.
노용석 중기부 차관은 “이번 챌린지를 통해 민·군 협력 기반의 개방형 혁신이 활성화되면 기존 방산물자 획득체계를 보완하고 산업 전반의 혁신을 촉진할 수 있을 것”이라며 “스타트업이 방산 생태계에 안정적으로 진입하고 기존 방산기업과 상생할 수 있도록 정책적 지원을 강화하겠다”고 밝혔다.

The Ministry of SMEs and Startups (Minister Han Sung-sook, hereinafter referred to as the Ministry of SMEs and Startups) announced that it will hold the 'Defense Industry Startup Challenge KICK-OFF DAY' on the 31st at Luna Mielle in Yeongdeungpo-gu, Seoul, chaired by Vice Minister Noh Yong-seok, and that it will recruit startups to participate in the 'Defense Industry Startup Challenge' from October 31st to November 20th at 4:00 PM.

In Korea, promising startups like Pablo Aviation and GenGen AI are achieving success across both the civilian and military markets. However, access to information and networking challenges still present challenges for companies entering the defense ecosystem.
Accordingly, the Ministry of SMEs and Startups, in collaboration with the Defense Acquisition Program Administration and the Defense Industry Promotion Association, has established the "Defense Open Innovation Challenge," with 10 defense companies and organizations, including the Air Force, Navy, Korea Aerospace Industries (KAI), LIG Nex1, and AU. This challenge aims to provide opportunities for innovative technology demonstrations and collaboration by allowing startups to address pressing challenges facing the military and defense companies.
Startups interested in participating can check the "Defense Startup Open Innovation Challenge" recruitment notice on the K-Startup website and apply. Selected startups will receive approximately 60 million won in collaborative funding, as well as customized support including consulting, specialized training, and networking. Collaborating organizations will also support project implementation through demonstration infrastructure, technical consulting, and human resources. Successful companies will also be provided with follow-up research and development (R&D) opportunities.
Vice Minister of SMEs and Startups Noh Yong-seok said, “If open innovation based on civilian-military cooperation is activated through this challenge, it will be able to supplement the existing defense material acquisition system and promote innovation across the industry.” He added, “We will strengthen policy support so that startups can stably enter the defense industry ecosystem and coexist with existing defense companies.”

中小ベンチャー企業部（長官ハン・ソンスク、以下中期部）は31日、ソウル永登浦区ルナミエレでノ・ヨンソク次官主宰として「放散スタートアップチャレンジKICK-OFF DAY」を開催し、10月31日から11月20日16時までスタートアップを募集すると明らかにした。

これに中期部は防衛事業庁、防衛産業振興会と協力して空軍・海軍、韓国航空宇宙産業（KAI）、LIGネックスワン、エーユなど10の防衛企業及び機関と共に「防衛オープンイノベーションチャレンジ」を新設した。軍及び放散企業の懸案課題をスタートアップが解決する方式で、革新技術の実証とコラボレーション機会を提供する予定だ。
参加を希望するスタートアップは、K-Startupのネットハウスで「放散スタートアップオープンイノベーションチャレンジ」募集公告を確認して申請することができる。選ばれたスタートアップには約6千万ウォン規模のコラボ資金とコンサルティング、専門教育、ネットワーキングなどカスタマイズされた支援が提供される。また、協業機関は実証インフラ、技術諮問、人材支援などを通じてプロジェクト遂行を支援し、優秀企業には後続の研究開発(R&D)機会も与えられる。
ノ・ヨンソク中基部次官は「今回のチャレンジを通じて民・軍協力基盤の開放型イノベーションが活性化すれば、既存の放散物資獲得体系を補完し、産業全般のイノベーションを促進できるだろう」とし「スタートアップが防衛生態系に安定的に進入し、既存の放散企業と共生できるように政策的支援を強化する」と述べた。

Le ministère des PME et des Startups (ministre Han Sung-sook, ci-après dénommé le ministère des PME et des Startups) a annoncé qu'il tiendra la journée de lancement du « Defense Industry Startup Challenge » le 31 octobre à Luna Mielle, dans le quartier de Yeongdeungpo-gu à Séoul, sous la présidence du vice-ministre Noh Yong-seok, et qu'il recrutera des startups pour participer au « Defense Industry Startup Challenge » du 31 octobre au 20 novembre à 16h00.
Cet événement a été organisé pour promouvoir l'entrée de jeunes entreprises innovantes dans l'industrie de la défense et renforcer la compétitivité de l'industrie de défense nationale face à l'application croissante des technologies civiles de pointe aux systèmes d'armes.

Ce défi vise à offrir des opportunités de démonstration et de collaboration en matière de technologies innovantes, en permettant aux startups de relever les défis majeurs auxquels sont confrontées les entreprises militaires et de défense.
Les startups intéressées peuvent consulter l'annonce de recrutement « Defense Startup Open Innovation Challenge » sur le site web de K-Startup et déposer leur candidature. Les startups sélectionnées recevront un financement collaboratif d'environ 60 millions de wons, ainsi qu'un accompagnement personnalisé comprenant du conseil, des formations spécialisées et des opportunités de réseautage.
