생성형 인공지능(AI) 기반 메타버스 플랫폼 기업 라온메타는 부산대학교 동물실험윤리위원회와 동물실험 실습 프로그램 협력을 위한 전략적 업무협약(MOU)을 체결했다고 밝혔다.
라온메타가 운영하는 ‘라온 메타데미’의 실험동물 부검 실습 콘텐츠는 실제 연구실 환경을 가상 공간에 구현해, 동물을 희생하지 않고도 가상의 래트(rat)를 활용해 실습 준비부터 부검, 사체 처리까지 전 과정을 체험할 수 있도록 설계됐다. 이를 통해 초보 실습자의 심리적 부담과 시행착오를 줄이고, 실제 실습 공간과 장비 부족 문제를 보완할 수 있는 것으로 평가된다.
라온메타는 이번 협력을 계기로 교육·의료·연구기관 전반으로 XR 기반 실습 콘텐츠 공급을 확대하고, 안전성·접근성·표준화가 강화된 가상 실습 생태계를 구축할 계획이다. 또한 글로벌 기관·기업과의 협업을 확대해 국제 수준의 실습 교육 체계와 윤리적 교육 환경 조성에 기여한다는 목표를 제시했다.
박종원 라온메타 경영본부장은 “한국과 미국 특허 등록 직후 즉시 교육 현장에 기술이 도입된 것은 XR 기반 실습의 필요성과 상용화 경쟁력을 입증한 사례”라며 “기술 고도화와 글로벌 진출을 통해 사회 문제 해결에 기여하겠다”고 말했다.
황대연 부산대학교 동물실험윤리위원장은 “라온메타의 XR 기술을 동물실험 실습교육프로그램에 시범 적용할 계획”이라며 “실험자의 숙련도 향상과 3R 정책 실천, 미래 교육 기반 마련에 도움이 될 것”이라고 밝혔다.

Raon Meta , a generative artificial intelligence (AI)-based metaverse platform company, announced that it has signed a strategic memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Pusan National University's Animal Experiment Ethics Committee for cooperation in animal experiment practice programs.
The lab animal autopsy practice content of "Laon Metademi," operated by Laon Meta, is designed to replicate an actual laboratory environment in a virtual space. Using virtual rats, participants can experience the entire process—from preparation to autopsy and body disposal—without sacrificing any animals. This approach is expected to reduce the psychological burden and trial and error experienced by novice practitioners, while also addressing the lack of practical training space and equipment.
Through this collaboration, Raon Meta plans to expand the supply of XR-based hands-on training content across educational, medical, and research institutions and build a virtual training ecosystem with enhanced safety, accessibility, and standardization. Furthermore, the company aims to expand collaboration with global institutions and companies to contribute to the creation of a world-class hands-on training system and an ethical educational environment.
Park Jong-won, Head of Business Division at Laon Meta, said, “The fact that the technology was introduced into the educational field immediately after the patent registration in Korea and the United States is a case that proves the necessity of XR-based training and its commercial competitiveness,” and added, “We will contribute to solving social problems through technological advancement and global expansion.”
Dae-yeon Hwang, the head of the Animal Experiment Ethics Committee at Pusan National University, said, “We plan to pilot the application of Raon Meta’s XR technology to the animal experiment training program,” adding, “It will help improve the proficiency of experimenters, implement the 3R policy, and lay the foundation for future education.”
