경기창조경제혁신센터(대표이사 김원경)는 지난 12일(현지시각) 미국에서 실리콘밸리 기반 벤처캐피탈 스톰벤처스(Storm Ventures)와 글로벌 유망 스타트업에 대한 공동 투자 및 국내 스타트업의 해외 시장 진출 지원을 위한 전략적 업무협약(MOU)을 체결했다고 밝혔다.
스톰벤처스는 2000년 설립된 실리콘밸리 기반 벤처캐피탈로, B2B 기술 스타트업을 중심으로 초기 단계 투자를 진행하고 있다. 현재 7개 펀드를 통해 약 10억 달러 규모의 자산을 운용하고 있으며, 글로벌 진출을 추진하는 스타트업을 대상으로 투자뿐 아니라 자문과 현지 네트워크 연계를 통해 성장을 지원하고 있다.
스톰벤처스는 AI와 B2B SaaS 분야에 특화된 투자 포트폴리오를 보유하고 있으며, 경기혁신센터 역시 판교를 중심으로 AI 및 B2B SaaS 분야를 전략적으로 육성하고 있다. 양 기관은 투자 분야와 전략적 방향성의 높은 연계성을 바탕으로 AI·B2B SaaS 분야를 중심으로 한 공동 투자와 글로벌 협력을 추진할 계획이다.
이번 협약은 단순한 교류를 넘어 공동 투자자로 참여하는 클럽딜 중심의 글로벌 협력 모델을 구축하는 데 목적이 있다. 이를 통해 국내 스타트업의 글로벌 스케일업과 투자 연계를 동시에 지원한다는 방침이다.
양 기관은 협약에 따라 글로벌 유망 스타트업 대상 공동 투자 및 클럽딜 발굴, 한국 스타트업의 해외 시장 진출을 위한 공동 지원 프로그램 운영, 투자 및 산업 전문가 네트워크 연계를 통한 후속 투자와 사업 확장 지원 등을 추진할 예정이다.
경기혁신센터는 이번 협약을 계기로 기존 프로그램 중심의 글로벌 지원 방식에서 나아가, 투자 연계와 공동 투자 실행을 중심으로 한 글로벌 사업 모델을 강화해 나갈 계획이다.

Based on the strong alignment between their investment areas and strategic direction, the two organizations plan to pursue joint investments and global collaborations focused on AI and B2B SaaS.
This agreement aims to establish a global collaboration model centered on club deals, moving beyond simple exchanges and involving joint investors. Through this, the goal is to simultaneously support the global scale-up and investment connections of domestic startups.
Under the agreement, the two organizations will pursue joint investments and club deals targeting promising global startups, operate joint support programs to help Korean startups enter overseas markets, and support follow-up investments and business expansion through networking with investment and industry experts.
With this agreement, the Gyeonggi Innovation Center plans to move beyond its existing program-centered global support approach and strengthen its global business model, focusing on investment linkages and joint investment execution.

両機関は、条約に基づきグローバル有望スタートアップ対象共同投資及びクラブディール発掘、韓国スタートアップの海外市場進出のための共同支援プログラム運営、投資及び産業専門家ネットワーク連携による後続投資と事業拡大支援などを推進する予定だ。
京畿革新センターは今回の条約をきっかけに既存プログラム中心のグローバル支援方式から進み、投資連携と共同投資実行を中心としたグローバル事業モデルを強化していく計画だ。
