Korea’s 11th Startup Weekend to be held in Seoul

Startup Weekend Seoul is coming up and will be held over 2 nights and 3 days starting on May 24. This is the 11th time the event has been held in Korea, which hopes to promote cooperation between individuals interested in startups and offer investment opportunities to competitive teams. The upcoming Startup Weekend will be held at Korea University with up to 80 people expected to participate.

Startup Weekend involves teams of developers, designers and planners with a passion for entrepreneurship coming together and building something new over a time of 54 hours. Teams have the chance to practice being a lean startup, try out their ideas and get feedback from experts.

The event will feature a keynote speech from CEO and Angel Investor at Primer, Taek-kyeong Lee on the subject of “What developers also need to know when preparing for investment.” Also, ex-developer and special speaker Ho-joon Song, who prepared and succeeded in launching a satellite last month, will give a talk titled “Effort and Passion for Startups – A Story of Making Dreams Come True”.

At the end of the event on 30 May, a networking party will be held for Startup Weekend participants at Nonhyun-dong’s Platoon Kunsthalle together with entrepreneur party group ‘Drink Entrepreneurs in Seoul’. AppCenter is the organizer of Startup Weekend, with support other sponsors including The Ministry of Science, ICT and Future Planning, Korean University’s Research and Business Foundation, SK Planet, V Energy Drink, Unity and CheezLab.
