서울시는 첨단 기술인 인공지능(AI)과 블록체인의 융합을 바탕으로 핀테크 산업의 성장을 촉진하고, 향후 산업을 선도할 스타트업 육성을 가속화한다고 5일 밝혔다. 이를 위해 서울시는 국내 최대 핀테크 스타트업 육성기관인 ‘서울핀테크랩’ 입주기업 40개사를 모집한다고 밝혔다.
‘서울핀테크랩’은 2018년 서울시가 여의도 금융중심지에 마련한 핀테크 스타트업 지원 시설로, 지리적 장점과 위워크 공간을 활용하여 기업들에게 최적의 환경을 제공하고 있다. 개관 이후 368개 핀테크 스타트업의 성장을 지원했으며, 2024년 3분기까지 누적 매출 5,665억 원, 투자유치 4,059억 원, 신규 고용 창출 3,787명 등의 성과를 거뒀다.
이번 모집은 국내외 핀테크 창업기업을 대상으로 하며, 금융 및 정보통신기술을 융합한 핀테크 산업에 해당하는 사업영역의 기업을 대상으로 한다. 입주 기업은 창업 7년 이내의 국내 핀테크 기업으로, 1년 단위로 최대 3년까지 전용 사무실을 제공받는다. 멤버십 기업은 창업 7년 이내의 국내외 핀테크 기업으로, 6개월 단위로 최대 1년까지 입주할 수 있다.
입주 심사는 서면평가와 대면평가로 진행되며, 기술력, 시장성, 성장 가능성 등을 종합적으로 평가하여 최종 선정된다. 4월 중 입주계약과 입주설명회가 진행되며, 5월부터 입주가 가능하다.
서울핀테크랩은 입주기업의 경쟁력 강화를 위해 다양한 지원 프로그램을 제공한다. 주요 프로그램으로는 금융규제 샌드박스, 스케일업, 해외진출 지원, 라이선스 컨설팅 등이 있으며, 올해는 유망 핀테크 기업의 글로벌 진출을 지원하기 위해 해외 금융업 라이선스 획득 지원과 혁신금융서비스 지정 등 특화 멘토링도 확대된다.
서희동 서울핀테크랩 센터장은 “핀테크 기업들이 글로벌 시장에서 경쟁력을 갖추고 도약할 수 있도록 맞춤형 지원을 통해 혁신을 이끌어내는 2025 서울핀테크랩이 될 것”이라며, “혁신적인 아이디어를 가진 핀테크 기업들의 많은 참여를 기대한다”고 말했다.
