글로벌 이차전지 종합소재 전문기업 엘앤에프가 이차전지 양극재 원재료의 윤리적 조달과 공급망 관리 강화를 위해 ‘책임 있는 광물 조달 이니셔티브(RMI, Responsible Minerals Initiative)’에 가입했다고 밝혔다. 엘앤에프는 이번 가입으로 핵심광물의 범위를 확대해 ESG(환경·사회·지배구조) 경영을 고도화하고, 글로벌 공급망에서의 경쟁력을 한층 높인다는 전략이다.
엘앤에프는 2016년부터 ‘책임 있는 코발트 이니셔티브(RCI, Responsible Cobalt Initiative)’에 참여해 왔으며, 이번 RMI 가입을 통해 코발트뿐만 아니라 3TG, 니켈, 리튬, 망간 등 이차전지 양극재 원재료 전반으로 책임광물 관리 범위를 확대한다. 또한 지난해 첫 책임광물보고서를 발간하며 광물 공급망 관리 및 활동 내역을 공개하고, 비즈니스 파트너사의 참여를 적극 독려하며 인권과 환경 보호에 지속적으로 앞장서고 있다.
최근 글로벌 배터리 제조사 및 전기차 OEM사들은 EU 배터리 규정과 공급망 실사법 등 국제 규제 대응을 위해 원재료 조달 과정의 투명성과 윤리성을 핵심 기준으로 요구하고 있다. 엘앤에프의 RMI 가입은 이러한 요구에 선제적으로 부응하며, 글로벌 고객사와의 파트너십을 더욱 공고히 할 것으로 기대된다.
엘앤에프는 이번 RMI 가입으로 ▲공급망 전 과정의 원산지 추적 시스템 구축 ▲분쟁 및 고위험 지역 광물 사용 최소화 ▲글로벌 리스크 매핑 시스템 활용 ▲실시간 공급망 모니터링 등의 선진 관리 체계를 도입하게 된다. 이를 통해 공급망 리스크 관리와 지속가능한 공급망 관리 체계를 구축하여 글로벌 규제에 선제적으로 대응하고, 글로벌 고객사들의 공급망 요구 사항을 충족할 계획이다.

LNF joins the 'Responsible Minerals Sourcing Initiative'
L&F , a global secondary battery comprehensive materials specialist, announced that it has joined the Responsible Minerals Initiative (RMI) to strengthen ethical sourcing and supply chain management of secondary battery cathode raw materials. With this membership, L&F aims to expand the scope of core minerals, advance ESG (environmental, social, and governance) management, and further enhance competitiveness in the global supply chain.
L&F has been participating in the Responsible Cobalt Initiative (RCI) since 2016, and through this RMI membership, the scope of responsible mineral management is expanded to cover not only cobalt but also all secondary battery cathode raw materials, including 3TG, nickel, lithium, and manganese. In addition, by publishing its first Responsible Minerals Report last year, the company has been disclosing its mineral supply chain management and activities, actively encouraging the participation of business partners, and continuously taking the lead in protecting human rights and the environment.
Recently, global battery manufacturers and electric vehicle OEMs have been demanding transparency and ethics in the raw material procurement process as key criteria in order to respond to international regulations such as the EU battery regulation and supply chain due diligence law. L&F’s membership in RMI is expected to proactively respond to these demands and further strengthen partnerships with global customers.
With this RMI membership, L&F will introduce advanced management systems such as ▲establishing an origin tracking system throughout the entire supply chain ▲minimizing the use of minerals from conflict and high-risk areas ▲utilizing a global risk mapping system ▲real-time supply chain monitoring. Through this, L&F plans to establish a supply chain risk management and sustainable supply chain management system to proactively respond to global regulations and meet the supply chain requirements of global customers.
L&F CEO Choi Soo-an emphasized, “ESG management is essential in the secondary battery industry, and transparency and ethics in raw material procurement are key competitiveness.” He added, “With this RMI membership, we will expand the scope of core mineral management, establish a supply chain management system from an ESG perspective, seek shared growth with our partners, and proactively respond to the ESG management needs of our global battery and OEM customers.”
Under the mission of being a 'global company that produces Green Energy materials that purify the Earth', L&F has been consistently practicing ESG management. In 2022, it was the first in the domestic secondary battery cathode material industry to receive the 'Platinum' grade, the highest grade of the 'Zero Waste to Landfill (ZWTL)' international certification, and transparently discloses its major achievements and strategies through the annual sustainability management report. 全球二次电池综合材料公司L&F宣布加入负责任矿产倡议（RMI），以加强二次电池正极原材料的道德采购和供应链管理。通过此次会员资格，L&F 旨在扩大其核心矿产的范围，推进 ESG（环境、社会和治理）管理，并进一步增强其在全球供应链中的竞争力。

L&F , une société mondiale de matériaux complets pour batteries secondaires, a annoncé avoir rejoint la Responsible Minerals Initiative (RMI) pour renforcer l'approvisionnement éthique et la gestion de la chaîne d'approvisionnement des matières premières des cathodes de batteries secondaires. Avec cette adhésion, L&F vise à élargir la portée de ses principaux minéraux, à faire progresser la gestion ESG (environnement, société et gouvernance) et à améliorer encore sa compétitivité dans la chaîne d'approvisionnement mondiale.
L&F participe à la Responsible Cobalt Initiative (RCI) depuis 2016 et, grâce à cette adhésion à la RMI, la société étend le champ d'application de la gestion responsable des minéraux à toutes les matières premières des cathodes de batteries secondaires, y compris non seulement le cobalt mais aussi le 3TG, le nickel, le lithium et le manganèse. En outre, nous avons publié notre premier rapport sur les minéraux responsables l’année dernière, divulgué notre gestion et nos activités de chaîne d’approvisionnement en minéraux, encouragé activement la participation de nos partenaires commerciaux et continué à prendre l’initiative dans la protection des droits de l’homme et de l’environnement.

Grâce à cela, nous prévoyons de mettre en place un système de gestion des risques de la chaîne d’approvisionnement et de gestion durable de la chaîne d’approvisionnement pour répondre de manière proactive aux réglementations mondiales et satisfaire aux exigences de la chaîne d’approvisionnement des clients mondiaux.
