인공지능(AI) 기반 과학 연구 스타트업 아스테로모프는 과학적 초지능(Scientific Superintelligence) 개발을 목표로 50억 원 규모의 시드 투자를 유치했다고 22일 밝혔다.
이번 투자 라운드는 딥테크 초기 투자에 강점을 가진 퓨처플레이가 리드 투자자로 참여했으며, 한국투자파트너스, 미래에셋벤처투자 등 국내 주요 벤처캐피털이 공동으로 참여했다. 퓨처플레이는 30억 원을 출자하며 자사 기준 최대 규모의 시드 투자로 주목받았다.
2025년 2월 설립된 아스테로모프는 생물학 및 화학 분야에서 자율적으로 연구 아이디어를 생성하고 이를 과학적 가설로 확장할 수 있는 인공지능 파운데이션 모델 ‘스페이서(SPACER)’를 개발 중이다. 회사 측은 해당 모델이 수학적으로 창발적 과학 아이디어 생성을 구현함으로써 기존 AI-Scientist 모델과 차별화된다는 설명이다.
퓨처플레이 최재웅 전무는 “아스테로모프는 슈퍼 인텔리전스 실현 가능성을 갖춘 국내 최초의 스타트업으로, 높은 기술력과 실행력을 보유하고 있다”며 “추가적인 자본 투자를 통해 후속 성장을 적극 지원할 계획”이라고 밝혔다.
이민형 대표는 “과학적 초지능이 구현될 경우 기존 과학 연구 속도를 획기적으로 가속할 수 있을 것”이라며, “이르면 올해 하반기부터 스페이서가 매일 수백 건의 과학 가설을 생성할 수 있을 것으로 기대한다”고 말했다.
Asteromorph attracts 5 billion won in seed investment
Asteromorph, an artificial intelligence (AI)-based scientific research startup, announced on the 22nd that it has attracted 5 billion won in seed investment with the goal of developing scientific superintelligence.
FuturePlay, which has strengths in early-stage deep-tech investments, participated as the lead investor in this investment round, and major domestic venture capitals such as Korea Investment Partners and Mirae Asset Venture Investment also participated jointly. FuturePlay invested 3 billion won, drawing attention as the largest seed investment by its standards.
Founded in February 2025, Asteromorph is developing an AI foundation model called SPACER that can autonomously generate research ideas in the fields of biology and chemistry and expand them into scientific hypotheses. The company explains that the model is differentiated from existing AI-Scientist models by mathematically implementing creative scientific idea generation.
Futureplay Managing Director Jae-woong Choi said, “Asteromorph is the first domestic startup with the potential to realize super intelligence, and it possesses high technological prowess and execution capabilities,” and added, “We plan to actively support its subsequent growth through additional capital investment.”
“If scientific superintelligence is realized, it will be able to dramatically accelerate the speed of existing scientific research,” said CEO Lee Min-hyung. “We expect that Spacer will be able to generate hundreds of scientific hypotheses per day as early as the second half of this year.”
