덱스터스튜디오(이하 덱스터)가 디지털 헤리티지 콘텐츠 전문기업 문화유산기술연구소(TRIC)와 협력해 미디어아트 브랜드 ‘플래시백그라운드(FLASHBACKGROUND)’를 공식 출범했다고 25일 밝혔다.
‘플래시백그라운드’는 영화에서 과거 회상 장면을 표현하는 기법인 ‘플래시백(Flashback)’과 역사적·문화적 기원을 뜻하는 ‘백그라운드(Background)’의 합성어로, 각 지역 고유의 설화를 미디어아트로 재해석해 새로운 세계를 체험하는 공간을 제공하는 브랜드이다.
덱스터는 자회사 (주)플래시백그라운드를 통해 디지털 아트 시장의 성장에 대응하고, 기존 VFX(시각특수효과) 분야를 넘어 공감각적 경험을 제공하는 ‘VX(Visual eXperience) 기업’으로 도약할 계획이다. 이를 위해 덱스터는 자사의 콘텐츠 기획력과 제작 기술력을 기반으로, 다양한 시각적 경험을 제공할 수 있는 전시와 콘텐츠를 개발하고 있다.
문화유산기술연구소(TRIC)는 문화유산을 디지털 트윈으로 변환하여 보존하고, 이를 바탕으로 콘텐츠 개발을 진행하는 전문 기업으로, AI 기반 복원, XR, 몰입형 미디어아트 등 최신 기술을 융합하여 문화유산을 공감각적 체험 자산으로 확장하고 있다. TRIC는 국가유산청, 국립중앙박물관, KBS, 유네스코 등과 협력하여 디지털 헤리티지 분야에서 높은 기술력과 전문성을 인정받고 있다.
플래시백그라운드의 첫 전시 공간은 경주에 위치한 ‘플래시백그라운드: 계림(계림)’으로, 신라의 역사와 설화를 바탕으로 한 초몰입형 미디어아트 전시가 펼쳐질 예정이다. 이 전시관은 덱스터의 시각특수효과, 실감 콘텐츠, IP, 음향 효과, 공간 설계 등 다양한 역량을 결집하여 시공간여행을 주제로 한 고감도 경험 환경을 구축하고 있다.
덱스터는 경주 보문관광단지에 건축연면적 1,700평, 총 전시실 14개 규모의 미디어아트 전용 전시관을 건립 중이며, 2025년 APEC 정상회의를 앞두고 경주에 대한 국제적인 관심이 집중됨에 따라 계림 전시관에도 높은 관심이 예상된다.
덱스터 김욱 공동대표는 “전 연령대의 관람객이 몰입할 수 있는 ‘힙 트래디션(Hip-Tradition)’ 미디어아트 전시관을 구축 중”이라며, “경주 본연의 문화유산과 덱스터의 차별화된 콘텐츠가 어우러져 문화예술, 여행, 관광, 교육 등 다양한 수요를 충족시키는 랜드마크가 될 것”이라고 말했다.
강종익 공동대표는 “플래시백그라운드는 지역의 고유한 이야기를 담은 전시 기획이 가능하다는 점에서 차별화된다”며, “제주 지역에 2호 전시관 건립을 검토하고 있으며, 동아시아 등 해외 진출 기회도 모색할 계획”이라고 전했다.

Dexter Studios officially launches media art brand 'FlashBackground'
Dexter Studios (hereinafter referred to as Dexter) announced on the 25th that it has officially launched the media art brand 'FLASHBACKGROUND' in collaboration with the Cultural Heritage Technology Research Institute (TRIC), a digital heritage content specialist.
'Flashbackground' is a combination of the words 'Flashback', a technique used in movies to express scenes from the past, and 'Background', which means historical and cultural origin. The Cultural Heritage Technology Research Institute (TRIC) is a specialized company that preserves cultural heritage by converting it into a digital twin and develops content based on it. It is expanding cultural heritage into a multisensory experience asset by integrating cutting-edge technologies such as AI-based restoration, XR, and immersive media art. TRIC is recognized for its high level of technology and expertise in the field of digital heritage through cooperation with the National Heritage Administration, National Museum of Korea, KBS, UNESCO, etc.
The first exhibition space of FlashBackground is 'FlashBackground: Gyerim (Gyerim)' located in Gyeongju, where an ultra-immersive media art exhibition based on the history and folktales of Silla will be held. This exhibition hall is building a high-sensitivity experience environment themed on space-time travel by combining various capabilities of Dexter's visual special effects, realistic content, IP, sound effects, and space design.
Dexter is currently building a media art exhibition hall with a total floor area of 1,700 pyeong and 14 exhibition rooms in the Gyeongju Bomun Tourist Complex, and as international attention is focused on Gyeongju ahead of the 2025 APEC Summit, high interest in the Gyerim Exhibition Hall is also expected.
Dexter Co-CEO Kim Wook said, “We are building a ‘Hip-Tradition’ media art exhibition hall where visitors of all ages can immerse themselves,” and added, “Gyeongju’s original cultural heritage and Dexter’s differentiated content will come together to create a landmark that satisfies diverse needs in culture and arts, travel, tourism, and education.”
Co-CEO Kang Jong-ik said, “Flashbackground is differentiated in that it can plan exhibitions that contain unique stories of the region,” and added, “We are considering building a second exhibition hall in the Jeju area and also plan to explore opportunities to expand overseas, including to East Asia.”

文化遺産技術研究所（TRIC）は文化遺産をデジタルツインに変換して保存し、これをもとにコンテンツ開発を進める専門企業で、AIベースの復元、XR、没入型メディアアートなど最新技術を融合し、文化遺産を共感覚的体験資産に拡張している。 TRICは国家遺産庁、国立中央博物館、KBS、ユネスコなどと協力してデジタルヘリテージ分野で高い技術力と専門性を認められている。
フラッシュバックグラウンドの最初の展示スペースは、慶州に位置する「フラッシュバックグラウンド：桂林（桂林）」で、新羅の歴史と物語を元にした超没入型メディアアート展示が行われる予定だ。この展示館はデクスターの視覚特殊効果、実感コンテンツ、IP、音響効果、空間設計など多様な力量を結集し、時空間旅行をテーマにした高感度経験環境を構築している。
デクスターは慶州普門観光団地に建築延べ面積1,700坪、総展示室14個規模のメディアアート専用展示館を建設中であり、2025年APEC首脳会議を控えて慶州への国際的な関心が集中することによって桂林展示館にも高い関心が予想される。
デクスターのキム・ウク共同代表は「前年齢層の観覧客が没入できる「ヒップトラディション（Hip-Tradition）」メディアアート展示館を構築中」とし、「慶州本来の文化遺産とデクスターの差別化されたコンテンツが調和して文化芸術、旅行、観光、教育など多様な需要を満たす」
カン・ジョンイク共同代表は「フラッシュバックグラウンドは地域の固有の話を盛り込んだ展示企画が可能だという点で差別化される」とし、「済州地域に2号展示館の建設を検討しており、東アジアなど海外進出機会も模索する計画」と伝えた。

Le premier espace d'exposition pour Flash Background est « Flash Background : Gyerim (Gyerim) » situé à Gyeongju, où se tiendra une exposition d'art médiatique ultra-immersive basée sur l'histoire et les légendes de Silla. Cette salle d'exposition rassemble les différentes capacités de Dexter, notamment les effets spéciaux visuels, le contenu réaliste, la propriété intellectuelle, les effets sonores et la conception spatiale, pour créer un environnement expérientiel de haute sensibilité sur le thème du voyage dans l'espace-temps.
Dexter construit actuellement une salle d'exposition d'art médiatique d'une superficie totale de 1 700 pyeong et 14 salles d'exposition dans le complexe touristique de Gyeongju Bomun, et comme l'attention internationale se concentre sur Gyeongju avant le sommet de l'APEC 2025, un grand intérêt pour la salle d'exposition de Gyerim est également attendu.
