㈜크래프톤은 구성원의 자발적 기부와 회사가 함께 참여하는 크래프톤 매칭그랜트 프로그램으로 마련된 기부금을 통해 KAIST의 전산학부 증축 건물 ‘KRAFTON SoC(School of Computing)’가 준공됐다고 밝혔다.
5월 20일에 열린 준공식에는 장병규 크래프톤 이사회 의장을 포함한 기부자와 이광형 KAIST 총장, 류석영 KAIST 전산학부장 등 약 100여 명이 참석했다.
2021년, KAIST 출신의 크래프톤 전·현직 구성원들은 KAIST에 대한 기부에 뜻을 모아 총 55억 원을 모금했다. 여기에 크래프톤이 동일한 금액을 더해, 총 110억 원 규모의 기금이 조성됐다. 크래프톤은 이번 기부에 이어, 향후 10년 간 건물의 유지보수를 위한 추가 기부도 약정하며 지속적인 지원을 이어갈 계획이다.
‘KRAFTON SoC’는 지식과 사람, 사람과 기술이 자연스럽게 이어지는 연결의 공간으로 설계되었다. 학생과 교수진이 머물고 교류하며 새로운 의견을 나누며 연구와 휴식을 균형 있게 누릴 수 있도록 구성됐다. 이 공간은 미래 인재들이 가능성을 펼치고 성장할 수 있도록 설계 단계부터 철학을 담았다.
이광형 KAIST 총장은 “KRAFTON SoC는 크래프톤 구성원들의 참여를 시작으로, KAIST 동문과 재학생, 교수진이 뜻을 모아 만들어낸 공동체의 상징적인 공간”이라며 “나눔과 연결이라는 가치가 실제 공간으로 구현된 뜻깊은 사례로, 기부자 분들께 깊이 감사드린다”고 말했다.
장병규 크래프톤 이사회 의장은 “인재 양성이라는 뜻에 공감하는 동료들과 크래프톤이라는 이름으로 이 공간의 완성에 함께할 수 있어 매우 의미가 깊다”며 “배움과 기회를 다음 세대에 돌려주고 싶다는 마음에서 시작한 이 공간이 인공지능 시대를 준비하고 이끌 인재들이 갖춰야 할 삶의 태도에 기여하는 환경이 되기를 바란다”고 전했다.

Krafton Establishes KAIST Education and Research Space 'KRAFTON SoC'
Krafton Co., Ltd. announced that the KAIST Computer Science Department extension building, 'KRAFTON SoC (School of Computing),' was completed with donations made through voluntary donations from members and the Krafton Matching Grant Program in which the company participates.

'KRAFTON SoC' is designed as a space of connection where knowledge and people, people and technology are naturally connected. KAIST President Lee Kwang-hyung said, “KRAFTON SoC is a symbolic space of the community created by the participation of KRAFTON members, as well as KAIST alumni, students, and faculty members.” He added, “This is a meaningful example of the values of sharing and connection being realized in a real space, and I would like to express my deepest gratitude to the donors.”
Jang Byung-kyu, Chairman of Krafton’s Board of Directors, said, “It is very meaningful to be able to work together with colleagues who share the same values of nurturing talent and to complete this space under the name of Krafton.” He added, “I hope that this space, which began with the desire to pass on learning and opportunities to the next generation, will become an environment that contributes to the attitude toward life that talents who will prepare for and lead the era of artificial intelligence should have.”

クラフトン、KAIST教育・研究空間「KRAFTON SoC」を設立

イ・グァンヒョンＫＡＩＳＴ総長は「ＫＲＡＦＴＯＮ ＳｏＣはクラフトンメンバーの参加を皮切りに、ＫＡＩＳＴ同門と在学生、教授陣が意を集めて作り上げた共同体の象徴的な空間」とし「分かち合いと連結という価値が実際の空間で具現された重要な事例で、寄付者の方々に深く感謝したい」と話した。
チャン・ビョンギュ クラフトン理事会議長は「人材養成という意味に共感する仲間たちとクラフトンという名前でこの空間の完成に共にできてとても意味が深い」とし「学びと機会を次の世代に返したいという心から始まったこの空間が人工知能時代を準備し導く人材たち願う」と伝えた。

Krafton 设立韩国科学技术研究院教育与研究空间“KRAFTON SoC”

Le président du KAIST, Lee Kwang-hyung, a déclaré : « KRAFTON SoC est un espace symbolique de la communauté créé par la participation des membres de KRAFTON, ainsi que des anciens élèves, des étudiants et des membres du corps enseignant du KAIST. » Il a ajouté : « C’est un exemple significatif des valeurs de partage et de connexion réalisées dans un espace réel, et je voudrais exprimer ma plus profonde gratitude aux donateurs. »
