◆ 한미 스타트업 교류 및 글로벌 진출 지원 위한 협력 합의
한국의 대표적인 스타트업 플랫폼 벤처스퀘어(VentureSquare)가 브루클린상공회의소(Brooklyn Chamber of Commerce)와 혁신 생태계 강화를 위한 업무협약(MOU)을 체결했다고 발표했다.
이번 협약은 한국과 뉴욕 브루클린 간의 스타트업 교류를 촉진하고, 양국 혁신 기업들의 글로벌 진출을 지원하기 위한 포괄적 파트너십을 구축하는 것을 목표로 한다.
명승은 벤처스퀘어 대표이사는 “이번 협약을 통해 한국 스타트업들이 미국 시장 진출의 교두보 역할을 할 브루클린에서 실질적인 비즈니스 기회를 찾을 수 있을 것”이라며 “특히 양 지역의 혁신 DNA를 결합한 새로운 형태의 국제 협력 모델을 만들어갈 계획”이라고 밝혔다.

◆ 스타트업의 해외 실증 사업 지원 등 포괄적 협력 프로그램 운영
양 기관은 협력 기간 동안 △한국 및 브루클린 스타트업 대상 공동 액셀러레이터 프로그램 △데모데이 및 PoC(Proof of Concept) 프로그램 △비즈니스 매칭 지원 △공동 투자 기회 창출 등 다양한 프로그램을 공동 운영할 예정이다.
특히 뉴욕 브루클린에서 진행되는 PoC 프로그램의 경우 브루클린상공회의소가 주된 운영 기관 역할을 맡아 현지 특성에 맞는 맞춤형 지원을 제공할 계획이다.
또한 양 기관은 네트워크, 플랫폼, 코워킹 스페이스, 교육 자원 등의 인프라를 통합적으로 활용하여 스타트업들이 보다 효율적으로 글로벌 진출을 준비할 수 있도록 지원한다.
이번 MOU의 특징 중 하나는 제3의 기관과의 협력 시 반드시 3자 간 협약을 체결하도록 한 조항이다. 이를 통해 협력 과정에서 발생할 수 있는 혼선을 방지하고, 명확한 역할 분담과 책임 소재를 확립하겠다는 의도로 해석된다.
이 조항은 뉴욕에서 한국측의 산발적인 접촉에 의한 협력보다 단일화된 창구를 통한 협력 채널을 구축하려는 의도를 담고 있다. 벤처스퀘어는 이러한 협력에서 주요 조율자 및 총괄 기관 역할을 수행하며, 역할 정의, 일정 관리, 자원 배분 등에 대한 권한을 가지게 된다.
업계 관계자는 “최근 글로벌 스타트업 생태계에서 지역 간 협력이 중요해지고 있는 가운데, 이번 한미 협력 모델이 다른 지역으로 확산될 수 있는 좋은 사례가 될 것”이라고 분석했다.
양 기관은 향후 정기적인 커뮤니케이션 체계를 구축하고, 프로그램 설계 및 브랜딩 관련 주요 결정사항에 대해서는 사전 협의를 통해 진행할 예정이라고 밝혔다.

◆ Agreement on cooperation for exchange of Korean and US startups and support for global expansion
VentureSquare, Korea's leading startup platform, announced that it signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with the Brooklyn Chamber of Commerce to strengthen the innovation ecosystem.
This agreement aims to foster startup exchanges between Korea and Brooklyn, New York, and build a comprehensive partnership to support the global expansion of innovative companies from both countries.
Myung Seung-eun, CEO of Venture Square, said, “Through this agreement, Korean startups will be able to find real business opportunities in Brooklyn, which will serve as a bridgehead for entering the U.S. market,” adding, “In particular, we plan to create a new type of international cooperation model that combines the innovative DNA of both regions.”
“We anticipate that Brooklyn’s dynamic startup ecosystem and Korea’s technological innovation capabilities will create synergy,” said Randy Peers, president and CEO of the Brooklyn Chamber of Commerce.
◆ Operation of a comprehensive cooperation program including support for overseas demonstration projects of startups
During the period of cooperation, the two organizations plan to jointly operate various programs, including: △joint accelerator program for Korean and Brooklyn startups, △demo day and PoC (Proof of Concept) program, △business matching support, and △creation of joint investment opportunities.
In particular, for the PoC program being conducted in Brooklyn, New York, the Brooklyn Chamber of Commerce will serve as the primary operating organization and provide customized support tailored to local characteristics.
Additionally, the two organizations will support startups to prepare for global expansion more efficiently by comprehensively utilizing infrastructure such as networks, platforms, co-working spaces, and educational resources.
One of the features of this MOU is the provision that requires a three-party agreement to be concluded when cooperating with a third party organization. This is interpreted as an intention to prevent confusion that may arise during the cooperation process and to establish a clear division of roles and responsibilities.
This provision is intended to establish a channel for cooperation through a single window rather than through sporadic contacts with the Korean side in New York. Venture Square will serve as the main coordinator and general agency in this cooperation, and will have authority over role definition, schedule management, and resource allocation.
An industry insider analyzed, “As regional cooperation is becoming increasingly important in the global startup ecosystem, this Korea-U.S. cooperation model will be a good example that can be expanded to other regions.”
The two organizations announced that they will establish a regular communication system in the future and proceed with major decisions related to program design and branding through prior consultation.

◆スタートアップの海外実証事業支援など包括的協力プログラム運営
両機関は協力期間中、△韓国及びブルックリンスタートアップ対象共同アクセラレータプログラム△デモデー及びPoC(Proof of Concept)プログラム△ビジネスマッチング支援△共同投資機会創出など多様なプログラムを共同運営する予定だ。
特にニューヨーク・ブルックリンで進行されるPoCプログラムの場合、ブルックリン商工会議所が主な運営機関の役割を引き受け、現地の特性に合わせたカスタマイズ支援を提供する計画だ。

VentureSquare, la principale plateforme de startups coréenne, a annoncé avoir signé un protocole d'accord (MOU) avec la Chambre de commerce de Brooklyn pour renforcer l'écosystème de l'innovation.
Cet accord vise à favoriser les échanges de startups entre la Corée et Brooklyn, New York, et à construire un partenariat global pour soutenir l'expansion mondiale des entreprises innovantes des deux pays.

◆ Mise en œuvre d’un programme de coopération global incluant le soutien à des projets de démonstration de startups à l’étranger
Au cours de la période de coopération, les deux organisations prévoient d'exploiter conjointement divers programmes, notamment : △un programme d'accélération conjoint pour les startups coréennes et de Brooklyn, △un programme de démonstration et de PoC (Proof of Concept), △un soutien à la mise en relation d'entreprises et △une création d'opportunités d'investissement conjointes.
En particulier, pour le programme PoC mené à Brooklyn, New York, la Chambre de commerce de Brooklyn servira d’organisation opérationnelle principale et fournira un soutien personnalisé adapté aux caractéristiques locales.
En outre, les deux organisations aideront les startups à se préparer plus efficacement à une expansion mondiale en utilisant de manière exhaustive des infrastructures telles que des réseaux, des plateformes, des espaces de coworking et des ressources éducatives.
L'une des caractéristiques de ce protocole d'accord est la disposition exigeant la conclusion d'un accord tripartite pour toute coopération avec une organisation tierce. Cette disposition vise à éviter toute confusion pouvant survenir au cours du processus de coopération et à établir une répartition claire des rôles et des responsabilités.
Cette disposition vise à établir un canal de coopération via un guichet unique plutôt que par des contacts sporadiques avec la partie coréenne à New York. Venture Square servira de coordinateur principal et d'agence générale dans cette coopération, et sera responsable de la définition des rôles, de la gestion du calendrier et de l'allocation des ressources.
Un initié du secteur a analysé : « Alors que la coopération régionale devient de plus en plus importante dans l’écosystème mondial des startups, ce modèle de coopération Corée-États-Unis sera un bon exemple qui pourra être étendu à d’autres régions. »
Les deux organisations ont annoncé qu’elles établiraient à l’avenir un système de communication régulier et qu’elles prendraient des décisions importantes liées à la conception et à l’image de marque du programme par le biais de consultations préalables.
