의료 AI 기업 루닛(대표 서범석)이 산업통상자원부 산하 한국산업기술진흥원(KIAT)이 주관하는 ‘2025년 전략기술형 국제공동기술개발사업(글로벌기술도입형)’ 과제에 선정돼 ‘AI 기반 개인맞춤형 유방암 전주기 통합관리 플랫폼 개발’에 착수한다고 31일 밝혔다.
이번 사업은 해외 우수 기술을 국내에 도입해 추가 개발함으로써 국내 기술 경쟁력 강화와 해외 시장 진출 확대를 목표로 한다. 루닛은 총 30억 원의 연구개발비를 지원받아 2028년 6월까지 3년간 해당 과제를 수행한다.
루닛이 개발하는 플랫폼은 개인별 유방 밀도, 유방암 위험도, 예후 진단을 고도화하고 AI 기술을 통합해 유방암 전주기 관리 솔루션을 제공한다. 특히 자회사 볼파라 헬스가 보유한 ‘볼파라 스코어카드’와 ‘볼파라 덴서티’ 기술을 도입해 고도화하며, 루닛의 AI 판독 기술을 영상 분석을 넘어 위험 예측 및 추적 관리까지 확장할 계획이다. 이를 통해 진단, 예측, 치료 계획, 예후 관리, 추적 검진을 포함하는 통합형 관리 체계를 구축할 예정이다.
이번 선정은 루닛이 볼파라 인수를 통해 기대한 기술 및 사업 시너지의 가시적 성과로 평가된다. 신규 플랫폼은 검진 프로세스 자동화를 통해 효율성을 높이고, 고위험군 조기 개입 및 저위험군 과잉검사 방지 등 전략적 검진 설계가 가능할 것으로 기대된다.
루닛은 개발 완료 후 미국 FDA 허가와 유럽 CE 인증을 획득해 글로벌 유방암 검진 시장에서 선도적 위치를 강화할 계획이며, 북미, 유럽 등 주요 시장으로 판매를 확대할 방침이다.

Lunit Selected for the 2025 Strategic Technology International Joint Technology Development Project
Medical AI company Lunit (CEO Seo Beom-seok) announced on the 31st that it has been selected for the '2025 Strategic Technology-Type International Joint Technology Development Project (Global Technology Introduction Type)' hosted by the Korea Institute for Advancement of Technology (KIAT) under the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy, and will begin developing an 'AI-based personalized breast cancer full-cycle integrated management platform.'
This project aims to strengthen domestic technological competitiveness and expand overseas market penetration by introducing and further developing excellent overseas technologies. Lunit will receive a total of KRW 3 billion in R&D funding and carry out the project for three years, ending in June 2028.
Lunit's platform will enhance personalized breast density, breast cancer risk, and prognosis assessments, integrating AI technology to provide a comprehensive breast cancer management solution. Specifically, Lunit plans to leverage its subsidiary Volpara Health's "Volpara Scorecard" and "Volpara Density" technologies to further enhance the platform. Lunit plans to expand its AI interpretation technology beyond image analysis to encompass risk prediction and follow-up management. This will create an integrated management system encompassing diagnosis, prediction, treatment planning, prognosis management, and follow-up screening.
This selection is seen as a tangible result of the technological and business synergies anticipated by Lunit through its acquisition of Volpara. The new platform is expected to increase efficiency through automation of the screening process and enable strategic screening design, including early intervention for high-risk groups and prevention of over-testing for low-risk groups.
After completing development, Runit plans to strengthen its leading position in the global breast cancer screening market by obtaining US FDA approval and European CE certification, and plans to expand sales to major markets such as North America and Europe.

今回の選定は、ルネットがボルパラ買収を通じて期待した技術及び事業シナジーの可視的成果として評価される。新規プラットフォームは、検診プロセスの自動化を通じて効率性を高め、高リスク群の早期介入や低リスク群の過剰検査防止などの戦略的検診設計が可能と期待される。
ルネットは開発完了後、米国のFDA許可と欧州CE認証を獲得し、グローバル乳がん検診市場で先導的位置を強化する計画であり、北米、ヨーロッパなど主要市場に販売を拡大する方針だ。

Lunit sélectionnée pour le projet international de développement technologique conjoint de Strategic Technology 2025
La société d'IA médicale Lunit (PDG Seo Beom-seok) a annoncé le 31 qu'elle avait été sélectionnée pour le « Projet international conjoint de développement technologique de type technologie stratégique 2025 (type introduction de technologie mondiale) » organisé par l'Institut coréen pour l'avancement de la technologie (KIAT) sous l'égide du ministère du Commerce, de l'Industrie et de l'Énergie, et qu'elle commencerait à développer une « plate-forme de gestion intégrée du cycle complet du cancer du sein personnalisée basée sur l'IA ».
Ce projet vise à renforcer la compétitivité technologique nationale et à accroître la pénétration des marchés étrangers en introduisant et en développant des technologies d'excellence étrangères. Lunit bénéficiera d'un financement total de 3 milliards de wons coréens en R&D et mènera le projet sur trois ans, jusqu'en juin 2028.
La plateforme de Lunit améliorera les évaluations personnalisées de la densité mammaire, du risque de cancer du sein et du pronostic, en intégrant l'IA pour offrir une solution complète de prise en charge du cancer du sein. Plus précisément, Lunit prévoit de s'appuyer sur les technologies « Volpara Scorecard » et « Volpara Density » de sa filiale Volpara Health pour améliorer encore la plateforme. Lunit prévoit d'étendre sa technologie d'interprétation par l'IA au-delà de l'analyse d'images pour inclure la prédiction du risque et la gestion du suivi. Cela créera un système de gestion intégré englobant le diagnostic, la prédiction, la planification du traitement, la gestion du pronostic et le dépistage de suivi.
Cette sélection est perçue comme le résultat tangible des synergies technologiques et commerciales anticipées par Lunit suite à l'acquisition de Volpara.
