기업용 AI 동시통역 서비스 ‘쿠쿠(Cuckoo)’ 개발사 쿠쿠 랩스(Cuckoo Labs, 대표 이용희)가 180만 달러 규모의 시드 투자를 유치했다고 4일 밝혔다. 이번 투자에는 미국 실리콘밸리 액셀러레이터 와이콤비네이터(Y Combinator)를 비롯해 스마일게이트인베스트먼트, 매쉬업벤처스, 베이스벤처스, 슈미트, 본엔젤스벤처파트너스 등이 참여했다.
쿠쿠는 글로벌 세일즈, 마케팅, 고객 지원 등을 위한 기업용 AI 동시통역 서비스로, 사내 문서와 용어집을 실시간 학습해 기업과 산업에 특화된 맞춤형 통역을 제공한다. 미팅을 반복할수록 정확도가 높아지는 방식으로 20여 개 언어를 구사하는 사내 통역사와 유사한 경험을 제공한다.
이용희 대표는 “글로벌 기업이 언어 장벽 없이 업무를 수행할 수 있도록 지원하는 것이 목표”라며 “사내 AI 동시통역과 콘텐츠 현지화 서비스를 시작으로 글로벌 엔터프라이즈 언어 AI 플랫폼으로 성장할 것”이라고 말했다.
투자사 매쉬업벤처스 박은우 파트너는 “AI 기술 발전과 글로벌 협업 증가로 전문 통역 시장이 성장하고 있으나 기업 맥락과 산업 용어를 정확히 이해하는 서비스는 부족하다”며 “쿠쿠는 기술 전문성과 비즈니스 역량을 갖춘 팀으로 초기부터 글로벌 성과를 내고 있어 성장 가능성이 크다”고 평가했다.
