2025 APEC 정상회의 기간에 공개된 설치미술 작품이 세계 정상들의 이목을 집중시키며 화제가 되고 있다.
해당 작품은 세계적 설치미술가 박선기 작가의 작품으로 스타트업 미트프로이데(Mitfreude)로부터 재료를 협력받아 진행했다. 작품에는 반도체 제조 공정에서 나오는 폐기물을 활용하여 개발한 신소재 ‘리벌스 크리스탈(RE:Birth Crystal)’이 핵심 소재로 사용되었다. 작품은 수백 개의 크리스탈 입자가 기존 박선기 작가의 대표적인 소재중 하나인 ‘숯’처럼 공중에 떠 있는 듯한 형태로 구현되어 ‘순환’을 미래지향적으로 표현하였다.
박선기 작가는 “소재가 지닌 아름다움과 탄생 스토리가 작품이 추구하는 ‘순환’의 의미와 부합했다”며 “새로운 소재와 예술이 만나 지속가능성의 가치를 아름답게 표현해낼 수 있었다”고 평가했다.
미트프로이데는 이번 APEC 프로젝트를 시작으로 글로벌 지속가능 패션 및 주얼리 시장 진출을 본격화한다.
미트프로이데는 반도체 폐기물을 업사이클링한 독자 개발 소재 ‘리벌스(RE:Birth) 크리스탈’과 기존 주얼리 제조 프로세스의 자동화 및 효율화를 통한 탄소 저감 기술을 앞세워, 글로벌 주얼리 제조 산업에서 지속가능성을 선도하는 것을 목표로 하고 있다. 또한 10여 년 이상의 주얼리 디자인 경험 및 세공 장인들과의 협업을 바탕으로 디자인–제조–유통을 통합하는 ‘지속가능한 원루프(One Loop) 제조 시스템’을 구축, 글로벌 패션기업들과의 협업을 적극적으로 추진할 계획이다.
김수경 미트프로이데 대표는 “이번 박선기 작가님 작품의 재료 협력은 리벌스 크리스탈이 가진 예술적, 산업적 가능성을 세계 무대에서 입증하는 중요한 첫걸음”이라며 “현재 유럽의 유수 럭셔리 브랜드들로부터 소재의 가치를 인정받아 구체적인 도입 논의가 오가는 단계이며, 내년 파리 패션 위크를 기점으로 글로벌 시장 진출을 본격화해 초기부터 글로벌 시장 개척과 기술 개발에 집중해 업계에 새로운 패러다임을 제시할 것”이라고 밝혔다.
한편, 미트프로이데는 2년간의 연구개발(R&D) 끝에 리벌스 크리스탈의 대량생산 기술을 확보했다. 현재 투자 유치 중이다.

This work, by world-renowned installation artist Park Seon-gi, was created with materials provided by the startup Mitfreude. The core of the piece is "RE:Birth Crystal," a new material developed from waste products from the semiconductor manufacturing process. Hundreds of crystal particles appear to float in mid-air, reminiscent of charcoal, one of Park Seon-gi's signature materials, creating a futuristic expression of "circulation."
Artist Park Seon-gi commented, “The beauty of the material and its birth story matched the meaning of ‘cycle’ that the work pursues,” and “The combination of new material and art beautifully expressed the value of sustainability.”
With this APEC project as a starting point, Mitfreude will begin its full-scale entry into the global sustainable fashion and jewelry market.
Mitfreude aims to lead the global jewelry manufacturing industry in sustainability by leveraging its proprietary "RE:Birth Crystal," an upcycled material derived from semiconductor waste, and carbon reduction technologies that automate and streamline existing jewelry manufacturing processes. Furthermore, Mitfreude plans to actively pursue collaborations with global fashion companies by establishing a "Sustainable One Loop Manufacturing System" that integrates design, manufacturing, and distribution, leveraging over a decade of jewelry design experience and collaborations with leading artisans.
Kim Soo-kyung, CEO of Mitfreude, said, “This collaboration with artist Park Seon-gi on materials is an important first step in proving the artistic and industrial potential of Reverse Crystal on the global stage.” She added, “Currently, leading luxury brands in Europe have recognized the value of our materials, and we are in the process of discussing their introduction. Starting with Paris Fashion Week next year, we will begin to enter the global market in earnest and focus on developing global markets and technologies from the beginning to present a new paradigm to the industry.”
Meanwhile, after two years of research and development (R&D), Mitfreude has secured mass production technology for Reverse Crystal. It is currently seeking investment.

パク・ソンギ作家は「素材が持つ美しさと誕生ストーリーが作品が追求する「循環」の意味と一致した」とし「新しい素材と芸術が出会い、持続可能性の価値を美しく表現できた」と評価した。
ミートプロイデは今回のAPECプロジェクトを皮切りにグローバル持続可能なファッションとジュエリー市場への進出を本格化する。

与此同时，经过两年的研发，Mitfreude公司已掌握反晶技术的量产技术，目前正在寻求投资。

Cette œuvre, de l'artiste d'installations de renommée internationale Park Seon-gi, a été créée à partir de matériaux fournis par la start-up Mitfreude. Son élément central est le « RE:Birth Crystal », un nouveau matériau développé à partir de déchets issus de la fabrication des semi-conducteurs. Des centaines de particules cristallines semblent flotter dans l'air, évoquant le charbon de bois, l'un des matériaux de prédilection de Park Seon-gi, et créant ainsi une expression futuriste de la « circulation ».
L’artiste Park Seon-gi a commenté : « La beauté du matériau et son histoire correspondent au sens du “cycle” que poursuit l’œuvre », et « La combinaison d’un nouveau matériau et de l’art exprime magnifiquement la valeur de la durabilité. »
Avec ce projet de l'APEC comme point de départ, Mitfreude entamera son entrée à grande échelle sur le marché mondial de la mode et des bijoux durables.
Mitfreude ambitionne de devenir un chef de file mondial de la joaillerie durable grâce à son matériau exclusif « RE:Birth Crystal », issu du recyclage de déchets de semi-conducteurs, et à des technologies de réduction des émissions de carbone qui automatisent et optimisent les processus de fabrication existants. Par ailleurs, Mitfreude prévoit de nouer des collaborations actives avec des entreprises de mode internationales en établissant un système de production durable en circuit fermé, intégrant la conception, la fabrication et la distribution. Ce système s'appuie sur plus de dix ans d'expérience dans la création de bijoux et sur des collaborations avec des artisans de renom.
Kim Soo-kyung, PDG de Mitfreude, a déclaré : « Cette collaboration avec l’artiste Park Seon-gi sur les matériaux constitue une première étape importante pour démontrer le potentiel artistique et industriel du Reverse Crystal à l’échelle mondiale. » Elle a ajouté : « Actuellement, les grandes marques de luxe européennes ont reconnu la valeur de nos matériaux et nous sommes en train de discuter de leur intégration. Dès la Fashion Week de Paris l’année prochaine, nous nous lancerons pleinement sur le marché mondial et nous concentrerons dès le départ sur le développement des marchés et des technologies à l’international afin de proposer un nouveau modèle à l’industrie. »
Parallèlement, après deux années de recherche et développement, Mitfreude a mis au point la technologie de production en série du Reverse Crystal et recherche actuellement des investissements.
