산업특화 AI 전문기업 NC AI가 대한민국 피지컬AI 기술 개발을 위해 K-피지컬AI 얼라이언스 컨소시엄을 공개했다. 이번 컨소시엄은 정보통신기획평가원이 주관하는 ‘피지컬AI 모델 학습을 위한 월드 파운데이션 모델 기술개발’ 과제에 참여하며 구성됐다.
NC AI의 K-피지컬AI 얼라이언스는 기술 개발, 실증, 산업 현장 적용까지 통합 지원하는 초거대 연구·개발 팀으로, NC AI를 비롯해 15개 국내 피지컬AI 전문 기업과 대학, 정부출연연구기관 등이 참여했다. 여기에 대기업, 스타트업, 지방자치단체 등 38개 수요기관까지 포함돼 총 53개 기관이 협력한다. 컨소시엄은 월드 파운데이션 모델(WFM)과 로보틱스 파운데이션 모델(RFM)을 개발해 로봇과 AI가 현실 세계를 이해하고 행동할 수 있는 환경을 구축할 계획이다.
컨소시엄 참여 기업들은 NC AI의 월드 모델을 중심으로 리얼월드, 씨메스, 펑션베이, 레인보우로보틱스, 삼성SDS 등의 기술과 인프라를 통합한다. 이를 통해 기존 생성형 AI의 물리적 한계를 극복하고, 실제 산업 현장 데이터 기반의 학습과 실증을 수행한다. NC AI는 MMORPG 환경에서 강화학습을 적용한 경험과 3D 생성 모델 바르코 3D의 기술력을 활용해 프로젝트를 총괄한다.
컨소시엄은 제조, 물류, 공항, 도심형 서비스 등 다양한 산업 현장에서 실증을 진행하고, 실제 현장 데이터를 모델 학습에 반영하는 선순환 구조를 구축할 예정이다. 삼성SDS, 롯데이노베이트, 포스코DX, 한화오션 등 주요 대기업은 컨소시엄을 통해 피지컬AI 기술을 제조 및 물류 현장에 적용했다.
또한 전북, 경남, 광주, 대구 등 지역 중심 피지컬AI 프로젝트에도 컨소시엄이 참여하며, 지역 산업의 인력 부족 문제 해결과 혁신을 지원할 계획이다. 업스테이지 등 독자 AI 파운데이션 모델 기업도 수요의향서를 제출하며 협력 가능성을 열어두었다.

NC AI Unveils K-Physical AI Alliance Consortium
NC AI, a specialized AI company specializing in industry, announced the launch of the K-Physical AI Alliance consortium to develop physical AI technology in South Korea. The consortium was formed in response to the "World Foundation Model Technology Development for Physical AI Model Learning" project, hosted by the National IT Industry Promotion Agency (NIPA).
NC AI's K-Physical AI Alliance is a massive research and development team that provides integrated support from technology development, validation, and industrial application. NC AI, along with 15 domestic physical AI companies, universities, and government-funded research institutes, are participating. Additionally, 38 demand organizations, including large corporations, startups, and local governments, are included, bringing the total number of collaborating organizations to 53. The consortium plans to develop the World Foundation Model (WFM) and the Robotics Foundation Model (RFM) to establish an environment where robots and AI can understand and act in the real world.
Consortium participants will integrate technologies and infrastructure from companies like RealWorld, C-Mess, FunctionBay, Rainbow Robotics, and Samsung SDS, centered around NC AI's world model. This will overcome the physical limitations of existing generative AI and enable learning and validation based on real-world industrial data. NC AI will oversee the project, leveraging its experience applying reinforcement learning in MMORPG environments and Barco 3D's 3D generative modeling technology.
The consortium plans to conduct validation studies in various industrial settings, including manufacturing, logistics, airports, and urban services, and establish a virtuous cycle that incorporates real-world data into model training. Major corporations, including Samsung SDS, Lotte Innovate, POSCO DX, and Hanwha Ocean, have applied physical AI technology to manufacturing and logistics sites through the consortium.
The consortium will also participate in regional physical AI projects focused on North Jeolla Province, South Gyeongsang Province, Gwangju, and Daegu, and plans to support local industries by addressing labor shortages and fostering innovation. Companies with independent AI foundation models, such as Upstage, have also submitted letters of intent, leaving open the possibility of collaboration.
NC AI CEO Lee Yeon-soo said, “This consortium is a coalition that has come together with the goal of becoming the world’s number one in physical AI, transcending corporate size, industry, and regional boundaries.” He added, “We will lay the foundation for a new 100 years of Korean industry with unrivaled AI technology that connects the virtual and the real, based on the technological prowess of the participating companies and the expectations of the industry.”

また、全北、慶南、光州、大邱など地域中心フィジカルAIプロジェクトにもコンソーシアムが参加し、地域産業の人材不足問題解決とイノベーションを支援する計画だ。アップステージなど独自のAIファンデーションモデル企業も需要意向書を提出して協力の可能性を開いた。

Ce consortium a été créé en réponse au projet « Développement de technologies de base pour l'apprentissage de modèles d'IA physique », piloté par l'Agence nationale de promotion de l'industrie des technologies de l'information (NIPA).
L'alliance K-Physical AI de NC AI est une vaste équipe de recherche et développement qui offre un soutien intégré, du développement technologique à la validation et à l'application industrielle. NC AI, ainsi que 15 entreprises chinoises spécialisées en IA physique, des universités et des instituts de recherche financés par l'État, y participent. De plus, 38 organisations clientes, dont de grandes entreprises, des startups et des collectivités locales, sont impliquées, portant le nombre total d'organisations collaboratrices à 53. Le consortium prévoit de développer le World Foundation Model (WFM) et le Robotics Foundation Model (RFM) afin de créer un environnement où les robots et l'IA peuvent comprendre et interagir avec le monde réel.
Les participants du consortium intégreront les technologies et infrastructures d'entreprises telles que RealWorld, C-Mess, FunctionBay, Rainbow Robotics et Samsung SDS, autour du modèle du monde de NC AI.
