프롬바이오(대표 심태진)는 13일, 농림축산식품부 산하 한국식품산업클러스터진흥원이 주관하는 ‘2026년도 식품기업 해외인증 지원 사업’ 대상자로 최종 선정됐다고 밝혔다.
이번 사업을 통해 프롬바이오는 자체 개발 원료 ‘매스틱 검 등 복합물(FHH-MG)’의 미국 FDA NDI(New Dietary Ingredient) 인증 획득을 목표로 한다. NDI 인증은 미국 내 신규 건강기능식품 원료의 안전성을 사전 평가·신고하도록 하는 제도로, 미국 시장 유통을 위해 필수적인 절차다. 해당 원료는 현재 국내 식약처에서 ‘모발 건강’ 기능성 개별인정형 원료로 접수된 상태다.
프롬바이오는 지난 2월 12일 NDI 인증 부문에 최종 선정됐으며, 3월 12일 협약을 체결하고 본격적인 사업을 시작했다. 과제는 해외인증 지원 협동수행기관인 (재)한국화학융합시험연구원(KTR)과 공동으로 수행되며, 총 사업비의 70%를 정부 지원으로 확보했다.
회사는 NDI 인증 획득을 통해 국내 식약처 승인과 미국 FDA 인증을 동시에 확보하는 ‘투트랙’ 전략을 실현할 계획이다. 인증 완료 후에는 검증된 안전성을 바탕으로 미국 B2B 원료 공급과 아마존 등 글로벌 플랫폼을 통한 B2C 제품 출시를 단계적으로 추진할 예정이다.
프롬바이오는 2026년 12월까지 NDI 인증을 완료하는 것을 목표로, FDA 규제 요건에 맞춘 기술 문서 작성과 안전성 데이터 확보에 집중할 방침이다. 또한 이번 인증을 기반으로 향후 추가 기능성 원료의 해외 인증을 위한 내부 표준 체계 고도화도 추진한다.
홍인기 프롬바이오 연구원장은 “국책과제 선정을 통해 당사의 기능성 원료 우수성과 글로벌 경쟁력이 객관적으로 검증됐다”며 “철저한 준비를 통해 미국 NDI 인증을 달성하고, K-건기식 기술력을 세계 시장에 알리는 기반을 마련하겠다”고 말했다.
프롬바이오는 보스웰리아 추출물과 매스틱 검 등 식약처 개별인정형 원료를 보유한 R&D 중심 기업으로, 최근 탈모 완화와 줄기세포 연구 등 바이오 분야로 사업 영역을 확대하고 있다.
최근 건강기능식품 업계에서는 미국 FDA NDI 인증을 포함한 해외 규제 인증을 활용해 글로벌 시장 진출을 강화하는 사례가 증가하고 있다.

Frombio Selected for 2026 Overseas Certification Support Program… Pursuing U.S. FDA NDI Certification
Frombio (CEO Shim Tae-jin) announced on the 13th that it has been finally selected as a recipient of the '2026 Food Enterprise Overseas Certification Support Project' organized by the Korea Food Industry Cluster Promotion Agency under the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs.
Through this project, Frombio aims to obtain U.S. FDA NDI (New Dietary Ingredient) certification for its self-developed ingredient, 'Mastic Gum Complex (FHH-MG).' NDI certification is a system that requires the pre-evaluation and reporting of the safety of new functional food ingredients in the U.S., and it is an essential procedure for distribution in the U.S. market. This ingredient has currently been submitted to the Korean Ministry of Food and Drug Safety as an individually recognized ingredient for 'hair health' functionality.
Frombio was finally selected for the NDI certification sector on February 12, signed an agreement on March 12, and began full-scale operations. The project is being carried out jointly with the Korea Testing & Research Institute (KTR), a cooperating agency for overseas certification support, and 70% of the total project cost has been secured through government funding.
The company plans to implement a 'two-track' strategy of simultaneously securing approval from the Korean Ministry of Food and Drug Safety and the U.S. FDA by obtaining NDI certification. Upon completion of certification, it intends to proceed in stages, starting with B2B raw material supply to the U.S. and launching B2C products through global platforms such as Amazon, based on verified safety.
Frombio plans to focus on preparing technical documentation that meets FDA regulatory requirements and securing safety data, with the goal of completing NDI certification by December 2026. Furthermore, based on this certification, the company intends to advance its internal standard system to facilitate future overseas certifications for additional functional ingredients.
Hong In-ki, Head of Research at Frombio, stated, “The selection for this national project objectively verifies the excellence of our functional ingredients and our global competitiveness,” adding, “We will achieve U.S. NDI certification through thorough preparation and lay the foundation to promote K-health functional food technology to the global market.”
Frombio is an R&D-focused company possessing KFDA-approved raw materials such as Boswellia extract and mastic gum, and is recently expanding its business into the bio sector, including hair loss alleviation and stem cell research.
Recently, there has been an increasing number of cases in the health functional food industry where companies are strengthening their entry into global markets by leveraging overseas regulatory certifications, including the U.S. FDA NDI certification.

同社はNDI認証取得を通じて国内食薬処承認と米国FDA認証を同時に確保する「ツートラック」戦略を実現する計画だ。認証完了後は、検証された安全性をもとに米国B2B原料供給とアマゾンなどグローバルプラットフォームを通じたB2C製品の発売を段階的に推進する予定だ。
プロンバイオは2026年12月までNDI認証を完了することを目標に、FDA規制要件に合わせた技術文書の作成と安全性データの確保に集中する方針だ。また今回の認証に基づき、今後追加機能性原料の海外認証のための内部標準体系の高度化も推進する。

プロンバイオはボスウェリア抽出物やマスティックガムなど食薬処個別認定型原料を保有したR&D中心企業で、最近脱毛緩和や幹細胞研究などバイオ分野に事業領域を拡大している。

Prombio a été sélectionnée pour le programme de soutien à la certification à l'étranger 2026, en vue de l'obtention de la certification NDI de la FDA américaine.
Frombio (PDG Shim Tae-jin) a annoncé le 13 qu'elle avait finalement été sélectionnée comme bénéficiaire du « Projet de soutien à la certification des entreprises alimentaires à l'étranger 2026 » organisé par l'Agence coréenne de promotion des clusters de l'industrie alimentaire sous l'égide du ministère de l'Agriculture, de l'Alimentation et des Affaires rurales.
Dans le cadre de ce projet, Frombio vise à obtenir la certification NDI (New Dietary Ingredient) de la FDA américaine pour son ingrédient développé en interne, le « Complexe de gomme de mastic (FHH-MG) ». La certification NDI est un système qui exige l'évaluation préalable et la déclaration de l'innocuité des nouveaux ingrédients alimentaires fonctionnels aux États-Unis ; il s'agit d'une procédure essentielle pour leur distribution sur le marché américain. Cet ingrédient a déjà été soumis au ministère coréen de la Sécurité alimentaire et pharmaceutique en tant qu'ingrédient reconnu pour ses propriétés bénéfiques à la santé des cheveux.
Frombio a finalement été sélectionnée pour le secteur de la certification NDI le 12 février, a signé un accord le 12 mars et a démarré ses activités à grande échelle. Le projet est mené conjointement avec le Korea Testing & Research Institute (KTR), un organisme partenaire pour le soutien à la certification à l'étranger, et 70 % du coût total du projet est couvert par un financement gouvernemental.

Frombio prévoit de se concentrer sur la préparation d'une documentation technique conforme aux exigences réglementaires de la FDA et sur la sécurisation des données de sécurité, dans le but d'obtenir la certification NDI d'ici décembre 2026. De plus, sur la base de cette certification, la société entend faire progresser son système de normes internes afin de faciliter les futures certifications à l'étranger pour des ingrédients fonctionnels supplémentaires.
Hong In-ki, responsable de la recherche chez Frombio, a déclaré : « La sélection pour ce projet national atteste objectivement de l'excellence de nos ingrédients fonctionnels et de notre compétitivité mondiale », ajoutant : « Nous obtiendrons la certification NDI américaine grâce à une préparation rigoureuse et jetterons les bases de la promotion de la technologie des aliments fonctionnels K-health sur le marché mondial. »
