인쇼츠는 6일 메가박스와 자사의 ‘AI 슈퍼스케일러’ 솔루션을 활용한 초고품질 콘텐츠 공급을 위한 전략적 사업제휴(MOU)를 체결했다고 밝혔다.
이번 협약을 통해 인쇼츠는 메가박스 상영관에 편성되는 콘텐츠의 수급을 협력하며, 상영 예정 콘텐츠에 대한 4K 리패키징(재상품화) 서비스를 제공한다. 특히, 다수의 4K 상영관을 보유한 메가박스에 4K 슈퍼스케일드 콘텐츠를 공급하고, 관련 사업을 전개하기 위해 긴밀히 협력할 예정이다.
인쇼츠는 2023년 2월 설립된 컴퓨터 비전 AI 스타트업으로, AI를 기반으로 한 다양한 콘텐츠 산업 특화 솔루션을 제공하고 있다. 대표적인 솔루션으로는 국내 최초로 개발된 AI 디지털 간접광고(PPL) 솔루션, AI 모션 트래블러, 그리고 AI 기반 영상 화질 개선 솔루션인 ‘AI 슈퍼스케일러’가 있다. 특히, ‘AI 슈퍼스케일러’는 4K 비디오에 특화된 데이터와 학습 방법론을 적용해 영상의 원본 품질을 프리미엄급으로 향상시키는 AI 리패키징 기술을 적용한 제품이다. 이 기술은 2023년 6월 세계 최고 컴퓨터비전학회인 CVPR에서 공식 발표된 세계 최고 성능(SOTA) 모델을 기반으로 지속적으로 고도화되고 있다.
인쇼츠는 이번 협업을 통해 메가박스를 포함한 국내외 기업들과의 협력을 확대할 계획이다. 이미 국내 애니메이션협회와 중국의 알파그룹 등과 기술 공급 계약을 체결했으며, 일본과 중국의 방송 및 콘텐츠 기업들과도 기술 테스트(POC)를 진행 중이다. ‘AI 슈퍼스케일러’는 비디오 초해상화 분야에서 기술 고도화와 연구 검증을 거쳐 시장에 출시된 업스케일 모델과 차별화된 높은 성능을 자랑하며, 다양한 분야에 적용될 수 있다는 평가를 받고 있다.

메가박스 김봉재 멀티플렉스 본부장은 “이번 전략적 협약을 통해 재개봉작 및 리마스터링 작품 등에서 경쟁력 있는 콘텐츠를 확보할 수 있게 되었다”며, “4K 리패키징 콘텐츠는 단순한 재개봉작 상영에 그치지 않고, 극장의 가치를 재확인하는 업계의 새로운 시도가 될 것”이라고 말했다.

Specifically, "AI Superscaler" utilizes AI repackaging technology, which enhances the original video quality to a premium level by applying specialized data and learning methods for 4K video. This technology is continuously being improved upon based on the world's best-on-the-tank (SOTA) model officially announced at CVPR, the world's leading computer vision conference, in June 2023.
Through this collaboration, Inshots plans to expand its collaboration with domestic and international companies, including Megabox. It has already signed technology supply agreements with the Korean Animation Association and China's Alpha Group, and is conducting proof-of-concept (POC) technology tests with broadcasting and content companies in Japan and China. The "AI Superscaler" boasts superior performance, differentiated from existing upscale models released to the market through technological advancements and research verification in the field of video super-resolution, and is considered applicable to a wide range of fields.
