가축 메탄가스 관리 기술을 보유한 국내 스타트업 메텍홀딩스가 덴마크 정부기관과 양해각서(MOU)를 체결하고, 메탄가스 측정 및 저감을 위한 공동사업에 착수한다.
메텍홀딩스는 16일, 덴마크 코펜하겐 현지에서 덴마크 정부 산하의 지역개발기관인 비지니스 롤랜드-팔스터(Business Lolland-Falster, 이하 BLF)와 공식 MOU를 체결했다고 밝혔다. 이 협약은 세계 최초로 농업 부문 탄소세(일명 ‘트림세’) 도입을 결정한 덴마크가 국내 기술력을 인정하고 공동사업을 요청한 사례로, 주목을 받고 있다.
협약식에는 메텍홀딩스 글로벌사업총괄 스티브 김(CSO)과 BLF 스테펜 룬드 디렉터가 참석했다. 양측은 메텍홀딩스가 개발한 ‘메탄캡슐(Methane Capsule)’을 활용해 가축의 메탄가스를 측정하고 감축하기 위한 기술 협력과 현지 사업화를 추진하기로 합의했다.
‘메탄캡슐’은 세계 최초로 상용화된 경구 투여형 메탄가스 측정 장비로, 반추동물의 위(胃) 내 발효 과정에서 발생하는 메탄가스를 실시간으로 측정하고 클라우드로 전송하는 기술을 기반으로 한다. 개체별 정량 측정이 가능해 기존의 추정 방식 대비 정밀성과 실용성이 높은 것으로 평가된다.
이번 MOU를 통해 양측은 ▲덴마크 내 시범 사업(POC) 추진 ▲가축 메탄가스 데이터 수집 ▲우수 감축 사례 발굴 및 공유 ▲메탄 저감 기술 공동 개발 ▲유럽 데이터 플랫폼 구축 ▲현지 생산 인프라 및 제조기반 확보 ▲메텍 덴마크 법인 설립 및 인력 구성 등을 주요 협력 과제로 설정했다.
BLF는 덴마크 정부 산하 기관으로, 탄소중립 농업 확대를 위해 스타트업, 연구기관, 산업계와의 협력을 통해 기술 도입과 사업화를 지원하고 있다.
메텍홀딩스 박찬목 대표는 “덴마크는 유럽 최초로 연간 1마리당 약 100유로의 가축 메탄 배출세를 도입한 국가로, 메탄 배출량을 과학적으로 측정하고 정량화하는 기술이 필요한 상황”이라며 “이번 협력을 통해 국내 기술이 유럽 시장에서도 경쟁력을 인정받은 셈”이라고 밝혔다.
또한 박 대표는 “메탄 배출 모니터링과 감축을 위한 AI·빅데이터 기반 시스템을 바탕으로, 글로벌 탄소배출권 시장에서도 활용 가능한 인증 프레임을 구축해 나갈 것”이라며 “기후중립 실현에 기여할 수 있는 저탄소 축산 모델을 확산시키는 것이 목표”라고 덧붙였다.

Metec Holdings Signs MOU with Danish Government Agency
Metech Holdings, a domestic startup with livestock methane gas management technology, has signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with a Danish government agency and is embarking on a joint project to measure and reduce methane gas.
Metec Holdings announced on the 16th that it signed an official MOU with Business Lolland-Falster (BLF), a regional development organization under the Danish government, in Copenhagen, Denmark. This agreement is attracting attention as it is a case in which Denmark, the first country in the world to introduce a carbon tax (aka 'trim tax') in the agricultural sector, recognized domestic technological prowess and requested a joint project.
The signing ceremony was attended by Steve Kim (CSO), Global Business Director of Metek Holdings, and Stephen Lund, Director of BLF. The two sides agreed to promote technical cooperation and local commercialization to measure and reduce methane gas from livestock using the 'Methane Capsule' developed by Metek Holdings.
'Methane Capsule' is the world's first commercialized oral methane gas measurement device, and is based on technology that measures methane gas generated during the fermentation process in the stomach of ruminants in real time and transmits it to the cloud. It is evaluated to have high precision and practicality compared to existing estimation methods because it allows quantitative measurement for each individual.
Through this MOU, both parties set the following as key cooperation tasks: ▲Promotion of a pilot project (POC) in Denmark ▲Collection of livestock methane gas data ▲Discovery and sharing of best practice reduction cases ▲Joint development of methane reduction technology ▲Establishment of a European data platform ▲Securing local production infrastructure and manufacturing base ▲Establishment of Metec Denmark corporation and personnel organization.
BLF is an agency of the Danish government that supports technology introduction and commercialization through collaboration with startups, research institutes, and industry to expand carbon-neutral agriculture.
Park Chan-mok, CEO of Metech Holdings, said, “Denmark is the first country in Europe to introduce a livestock methane emission tax of approximately 100 euros per head per year, and there is a need for technology to scientifically measure and quantify methane emissions.” He added, “Through this collaboration, our domestic technology has been recognized for its competitiveness in the European market.”
Park also said, “Based on an AI and big data-based system for monitoring and reducing methane emissions, we will build a certification framework that can be used in the global carbon emissions market,” adding, “Our goal is to spread a low-carbon livestock model that can contribute to achieving climate neutrality.”

メテックホールディングスの朴賛浩（パク・チャンモク）代表は「デンマークはヨーロッパ初で年間１匹当たり約１００ユーロの家畜メタン排出税を導入した国家で、メタン排出量を科学的に測定して定量化する技術が必要な状況」とし「今回の協力を通じて国内技術が欧州市場でも競争力を認められたわけだ」と明らかにした。
また、朴代表は「メタン排出モニタリングと削減のためのAI・ビッグデータ基盤システムをもとに、グローバル炭素排出権市場でも活用可能な認証フレームを構築していく」とし「気候中立の実現に寄与できる低炭素畜産モデルを拡散させることが目標」と付け加えた。

Metech Holdings, une start-up nationale spécialisée dans la technologie de gestion du gaz méthane du bétail, a signé un protocole d'accord (MOU) avec une agence gouvernementale danoise et se lance dans un projet commun visant à mesurer et à réduire le gaz méthane.
Metec Holdings a annoncé le 16 avoir signé un protocole d'accord officiel avec Business Lolland-Falster (BLF), une agence de développement régional relevant du gouvernement danois, à Copenhague, au Danemark. Cet accord attire l'attention car il s'agit d'un cas dans lequel le Danemark, premier pays au monde à avoir décidé d'introduire une taxe carbone (également appelée « taxe de finition ») dans le secteur agricole, a reconnu les capacités technologiques nationales et a demandé un projet commun.
La cérémonie de signature s'est déroulée en présence de Steve Kim (CSO), directeur commercial mondial de Metec Holdings, et de Stephen Lund, directeur de BLF. Les deux parties ont convenu de promouvoir la coopération technologique et la commercialisation locale pour mesurer et réduire le gaz méthane provenant du bétail en utilisant la « Capsule de méthane » développée par Metech Holdings.
« Methane Capsule » est le premier appareil de mesure du gaz méthane par voie orale commercialisé au monde. Il est basé sur une technologie qui mesure le gaz méthane généré pendant le processus de fermentation dans l'estomac des ruminants en temps réel et le transmet au cloud. On estime qu’elle présente une précision et une praticité supérieures aux méthodes d’estimation existantes, car elle permet une mesure quantitative de chaque individu.
Par le biais de ce protocole d'accord, les deux parties ont défini les tâches clés de coopération suivantes : ▲Promotion d'un projet pilote (POC) au Danemark ▲Collecte de données sur le gaz méthane du bétail ▲Découverte et partage de cas de réduction des meilleures pratiques ▲Développement conjoint de la technologie de réduction du méthane ▲Établissement d'une plateforme de données européenne ▲Sécurisation de l'infrastructure de production locale et de la base de fabrication ▲Établissement de la société Metec Danemark et de l'organisation du personnel.
BLF est une agence du gouvernement danois qui soutient l'introduction et la commercialisation de technologies grâce à une collaboration avec des startups, des instituts de recherche et l'industrie pour développer une agriculture neutre en carbone.
Park Chan-mok, PDG de Metech Holdings, a déclaré : « Le Danemark est le premier pays d'Europe à introduire une taxe sur les émissions de méthane du bétail d'environ 100 euros par tête et par an, et il existe un besoin de technologie pour mesurer et quantifier scientifiquement les émissions de méthane. » Il a ajouté : « Grâce à cette collaboration, notre technologie nationale a été reconnue pour sa compétitivité sur le marché européen. »
