사이테크(Sci-tech) 선도기업 그래디언트는 카오스재단, YBM퍼블위즈와 과학교육 및 과학 문화 확산을 위한 3자 업무협약(MOU)을 체결했다고 20일 밝혔다.
세 기관은 이번 협약에 따라 ▲과학교육 콘텐츠 공동 개발 ▲과학 문화 확산을 위한 공동 프로젝트 및 행사 운영 ▲교육, 홍보, 자문 등 각 기관의 강점을 활용한 상호 지원 ▲과학교육 및 과학 문화 확산을 위한 국내외 네트워크 구축 등 다양한 분야에서 협력할 예정이다.
먼저 그래디언트는 혁신적인 과학기술을 핵심 가치로 삼고 미래 지향적인 사업을 지속적으로 전개하고 있다. 지난달 AI 기반의 과학 지식 플랫폼 ‘SOAK(Scientific Odyssey Along the Knowledge, 쏙)’을 선보이며 콘텐츠 플랫폼 사업에 진출했다. SOAK은 일방향적인 지식 전달 방식을 탈피해 흥미로운 질문을 던지고, 자발적인 과학 탐구를 유도하는 새로운 형태의 지식 플랫폼이다.
카오스재단은 과학에 관한 다양하고 깊은 지식을 대중에게 보다 쉽고 재미있게 전달하기 위해 지난 2014년에 설립된 비영리 공익 재단이다. 대표 프로그램인 ‘카오스강연’을 비롯해 유튜브 채널 ‘카오스 사이언스’를 통해 다양한 과학 콘텐츠를 제공하며 과학 문화 확산에 힘쓰고 있다.
마지막으로 YBM퍼블위즈는 영어교육 콘텐츠 개발 및 유통에 특화된 교육기업으로, 다양한 영어 학습 교재와 온라인 콘텐츠, 영어 말하기 시험 등을 통해 국내 영어 교육을 선도해왔다. 특히 다수의 원어민 전문가와 함께 쌓아온 영어 콘텐츠 제작 노하우를 바탕으로, 글로벌 언어 교육 역량을 보유하고 있다.
이번 협약을 통해 그래디언트와 카오스재단은 YBM퍼블위즈의 영어 전문성을 활용하여 글로벌 확산 역량을 강화하며, YBM퍼블위즈는 과학 분야로 사업 영역을 더욱 확장한다는 방침이다.
그래디언트 남인봉 대표는 “과학의 대중화는 단순한 지식 전달을 넘어, 누구나 과학을 질문하고 탐색할 수 있는 경험을 만드는 일이라고 생각한다”며 “이번 협력을 통해 보다 많은 사람들이 과학을 일상 속에서 자연스럽게 마주할 수 있도록 다양한 협업과 시도를 이어가겠다”고 말했다.

Gradient, Chaos Foundation, and YBM Public Wiz Sign Three-Party Business Agreement for Popularization of Science
Sci-tech leader Gradient announced on the 20th that it signed a three-party business agreement (MOU) with the Chaos Foundation and YBM Publywiz to promote science education and culture.
According to this agreement, the three organizations plan to cooperate in various areas, including ▲joint development of science education content, ▲operation of joint projects and events to spread science culture, ▲mutual support utilizing each organization’s strengths in education, publicity, and consulting, and ▲establishment of domestic and international networks to spread science education and science culture.
First, Gradient is continuously developing future-oriented businesses with innovative science and technology as its core value. Last month, it entered the content platform business by introducing the AI-based scientific knowledge platform 'SOAK (Scientific Odyssey Along the Knowledge, 쑥)'. SOAK is a new type of knowledge platform that breaks away from the one-way knowledge transfer method and asks interesting questions and induces voluntary scientific inquiry.
The Chaos Foundation is a non-profit public interest foundation established in 2014 to deliver diverse and deep knowledge about science to the public in a more easy and fun way. It provides various scientific content through its flagship program, 'Chaos Lecture', and its YouTube channel, 'Chaos Science', and strives to spread scientific culture.
Lastly, YBM Publywiz is an educational company specializing in the development and distribution of English education content, and has been leading domestic English education through various English learning materials, online content, and English speaking tests. In particular, it has global language education capabilities based on the know-how in English content production accumulated with many native English-speaking experts.
Through this agreement, Gradient and Chaos Foundation will utilize YBM Publiwiz’s English expertise to strengthen its global expansion capabilities, while YBM Publiwiz will further expand its business area into the science field.
Gradient CEO Nam In-bong said, “I believe that popularizing science goes beyond simply imparting knowledge, but rather creates an experience in which anyone can ask questions and explore science.” He added, “Through this collaboration, we will continue various collaborations and attempts so that more people can naturally encounter science in their daily lives.”

今回の条約を通じて、グラデーションとカオス財団はYBMパブリックウィズの英語専門性を活用してグローバル拡散力量を強化し、YBMパブリックウィズは科学分野に事業領域をさらに拡張する方針だ。
