조명 전문 기업 금호전기㈜가 지난 23일부터 25일까지 중국 심천에서 개최되는 ‘UAS EXPO 2025(국제 드론 박람회)’에 방문해 드론 분야 신사업 진출을 위한 전략적 탐색에 나선다고 밝혔다.
‘UAS EXPO 2025’는 아시아 무인 항공기(UAV) 및 무인 시스템 전문 박람회로 전 세계 드론 산업의 최신 기술과 시장 동향을 한눈에 조망할 수 있는 국제 전시회다. 전시 면적만 3만㎡에 달하며, 드론 본체는 물론 카메라, 로터, ESC, 프로펠러 등 드론을 구성하는 제품 4,000여 종이 전시돼 ‘드론 백화점’으로 불리기도 한다.
매년 심천에서 개최되는 본 박람회는 중국은 물론, 전 세계 드론 산업의 주요 기업, 연구기관, 전문가, 정책 관계자들이 한자리에 모이는 글로벌 교류의 장으로 자리매김하고 있다. 올해 박람회에는 신생 스타트업부터 첨단 기술 기반의 중견·대기업까지 400곳 이상의 기업이 참가할 예정이며, 다양한 드론 기술과 솔루션을 만나볼 수 있을 전망이다.

지난해 금호전기는 드론 배송 솔루션 및 UAM통합관제서비스 역량을 보유한 파블로항공과의 업무협약(MOU)을 체결한 바 있으며, 이번 박람회에서도 산업 트렌드에 대한 폭넓은 이해를 바탕으로 드론 기술과 기존 사업 간 융합 가능성을 모색할 계획이다.
금호전기 관계자는 “이번 UAS EXPO 2025 방문은 드론 산업에 대한 이해를 넓히고, 회사 미래 신사업 방향성을 구체화하기 위한 첫걸음”이라며 “급변하는 기술 환경 속에서 신규 기술 기반의 응용 가능성과 비즈니스 모델을 탐색하는 데 의의가 있다”고 말했다.
