피카부랩스(PeekabooLabs)는 서울창업허브와 글로벌 투자사 500Global이 공동 주관하는 ‘글로벌 진출 프로그램’에 최종 선정됐다고 4일 밝혔다.
딥테크 스타트업인 피카부랩스는 온디바이스 AI 자동 최적화 솔루션인 ‘Carve’를 개발 중이다. Carve는 스마트폰, PC, IoT 기기 등 다양한 디바이스 환경에서 AI 모델이 최적의 성능으로 구동될 수 있도록 자동으로 최적화하는 기술을 제공한다.
특히 기존 소프트웨어 기반 경량화 방식과 달리, 디바이스의 칩셋과 운영체제(OS) 등 하드웨어 수준까지 최적화하는 독자적인 기술력을 갖추고 있다. 이를 통해 AI 모델의 본래 성능을 유지하면서도 특정 기기에 최적화된 ‘온디바이스 전용 AI 모델’을 구현할 수 있다.
피카부랩스는 설립 1년여 만에 글로벌 반도체 기업 인텔과의 기술 협력 프로젝트를 성공적으로 유치했으며, 국내 대표 기업 LG와는 온디바이스 AI 기반 차세대 홈 IoT 서비스 공동 개발을 진행하는 등 빠르게 기술력을 인정받고 있다.
초기부터 국내 시장을 넘어 글로벌 시장 진출을 목표로 준비해온 피카부랩스는 이번 글로벌 진출 프로그램을 통해 북미 등 주요 해외 시장에서 기술 및 비즈니스 모델을 검증하고, 실질적인 해외 매출 확대를 추진할 계획이다.

Deep tech startup Peekaboo Labs is developing 'Carve', an on-device AI automatic optimization solution. Carve provides technology that automatically optimizes AI models so that they can run at optimal performance in various device environments such as smartphones, PCs, and IoT devices.
In particular, unlike existing software-based lightweight methods, it has its own technology that optimizes up to the hardware level, including the chipset and operating system (OS) of the device. This allows for the implementation of an 'on-device exclusive AI model' optimized for a specific device while maintaining the original performance of the AI model.
Peekaboo Labs has been rapidly gaining recognition for its technological prowess, having successfully attracted a technology collaboration project with the global semiconductor company Intel in just over a year since its establishment, and is currently jointly developing a next-generation home IoT service based on on-device AI with leading domestic company LG.
Peekaboo Labs, which has been preparing to enter the global market beyond the domestic market from the beginning, plans to verify its technology and business model in major overseas markets such as North America and to pursue actual overseas sales expansion through this global expansion program.
