구글은 서울 삼성동에 위치한 ‘구글 스타트업 캠퍼스(Google for Startups Campus)’ 개관 10주년을 맞아, 지난 10년간 한국 스타트업 생태계와 함께해 온 여정을 돌아보는 한편, AI 시대 새로운 기회를 함께 발굴하기 위한 ‘스타트업 AI 페스티벌(Startup AI Festival)’을 개최했다고 밝혔다.
구글 스타트업 캠퍼스는 2015년 개관한 구글 스타트업 캠퍼스의 대표 거점으로, 빠르게 성장하는 한국 스타트업 생태계를 지원하기 위한 물리적 공간이자, 글로벌 네트워크의 관문으로 자리잡아 왔다.
구글 스타트업 캠퍼스는 또한 지난 10년 간 ‘AI 아카데미(AI Academy)’, 서울시와 부산시 등과 ‘AI 스타트업 스쿨(AI Startup School)’ 등 다양한 스타트업 지원 프로그램을 운영하며 기술 멘토링, 글로벌 네트워크 연결, 클라우드 인프라 지원 등을 제공해 왔다. 이외에도 창업자, 투자자는 물론, 개발자와 전문가들이 활발히 교류할 수 있는 지식 커뮤니티 허브로서, 구글이 보유한 자원과 네트워크를 바탕으로 국내 스타트업 생태계 내 다양한 기회를 창출해 국내 스타트업들의 글로벌 시장 진출을 적극 지원해 왔다.
이 결과, 구글 스타트업 캠퍼스가 적극 지원한 국내 스타트업들은 총 1조 4천억 원(약 10억 7천만 달러) 이상의 누적 투자 유치 성과를 기록했으며, 이들이 직접 고용한 인원은 5,136명, 커뮤니티 전체 인원수는 5만여 명에 이른다. 또한 지난 10년간 구글 자체 행사뿐만 아니라 국내 스타트업 커뮤니티의 다양한 행사를 지원하며 총 2,400여 건의 다채로운 프로그램과 이벤트가 이 곳에서 개최돼, 한국 스타트업 커뮤니티의 성장과 글로벌 연결을 지원하는 핵심 플랫폼으로 자리매김해 왔다.
‘AI 시대, 한국 스타트업의 리더십’을 주제로 개최된 이번 ‘스타트업 AI 페스티벌(Startup AI Festival)’ 행사에는 캐런 피스터(Karen Fiester) 구글 스타트업 글로벌 디렉터(Global Director, Google for Startups), 조이 사쿠라이(Joy M. Sakurai) 주한 미대사관 공관 차석(Deputy Chief of Mission at the US Embassy in Seoul, Republic of Korea)을 비롯해, 임정욱 중소벤처기업부 창업벤처혁신실장, 김경훈 구글코리아 사장, 마이크 김 구글 스타트업 캠퍼스 아태지역 총괄 등 주요 인사들이 참석해 행사를 축하했다.
이어 구글 스타트업 캠퍼스의 알럼나이인 ‘원티드랩’와 ‘라이너’ 관계자가 국내 AI 스타트업의 혁신 사례를 공유했으며, AI 제품 개발의 미래를 주제로 한 실리콘밸리 리더들의 패널 토크와 아태지역 주요 스타트업의 글로벌 인사이트를 나누는 토크 세션도 진행돼 심도 깊은 논의의 장을 펼쳤다.
행사장 내에는 스타트업 관계자 간 자유롭게 교류하는 네트워킹 부스와 함께, ‘에이아이포펫(AI for Pet)’, ‘스모어톡(smoretalk)’, ‘허드슨AI(Hudson AI)’ 등 AI 아카데미 및 구글 포 스타트업 액셀러레이터 프로그램 출신 국내 AI 스타트업들이 구글의 ‘제미나이(Gemini)’를 활용한 적용 사례를 소개하는 전시 부스를 운영하기도 했다. 또한, 창업자와 투자자, 전문가들이 모여 교류하며 인사이트를 나누는 네트워킹 프로그램인 ‘캠퍼스 포차(Campus Pocha)’도 함께 진행됐다.
캐런 피스터 구글 스타트업 캠퍼스 글로벌 디렉터는 “지난 10년간 구글 스타트업 캠퍼스 서울은 수많은 한국 창업가들의 시작과 성장을 지원해왔다”며, “AI가 미래 창업 생태계의 핵심 기술인 만큼, 구글의 제품과 사람, 전문성을 바탕으로 유망한 한국 창업가들이 글로벌 무대에서 성공할 수 있도록 든든한 디딤돌이 되겠다”고 말했다.
임정욱 중소벤처기업부 창업벤처혁신실장은 “지난 10년간 구글 스타트업 캠퍼스의 흔들림 없는 지원과 민관협력의 대표 사례인 ‘창구’ 프로그램을 통해 구글과 긴밀한 파트너십을 이어온 것을 매우 뜻깊게 생각한다”라며, “앞으로도 구글과의 파트너십을 더욱 공고히 하여 국내 스타트업, 특히 AI 분야의 혁신 기업들이 글로벌 시장으로 뻗어나갈 수 있도록 지원하겠다”라고 말했다.

Google Startup Campus to Hold 'Startup AI Festival'
Google announced that it held the 'Startup AI Festival' to commemorate the 10th anniversary of the opening of the 'Google for Startups Campus' located in Samseong-dong, Seoul, and to look back on the journey it has taken with the Korean startup ecosystem over the past 10 years and discover new opportunities in the AI era.
Google for Startups Campus, which opened in 2015, is the flagship location of Google for Startups Campus, and has established itself as a physical space to support the rapidly growing Korean startup ecosystem and a gateway to the global network.
Google Startup Campus has also operated various startup support programs such as 'AI Academy' for the past 10 years, 'AI Startup School' with Seoul and Busan, etc., and has provided technology mentoring, global network connection, cloud infrastructure support, etc. In addition, as a knowledge community hub where founders, investors, developers, and experts can actively interact, it has created various opportunities in the domestic startup ecosystem based on Google's resources and network, and has actively supported domestic startups' entry into the global market.
As a result, domestic startups actively supported by Google for Startups Campus have recorded cumulative investment attraction performance of over KRW 1.4 trillion (approximately USD 1.07 billion), directly employed 5,136 people, and the total number of community members is approximately 50,000. In addition, over the past 10 years, in addition to Google’s own events, various events of the domestic startup community have been supported, and a total of approximately 2,400 diverse programs and events have been held here, establishing it as a key platform supporting the growth of the Korean startup community and global connections.
This year's 'Startup AI Festival' event, held under the theme of 'Leadership of Korean Startups in the AI Era', was attended by key figures such as Karen Fiester, Global Director, Google for Startups, Joy M. Sakurai, Deputy Chief of Mission at the US Embassy in Seoul, Republic of Korea, Lim Jeong-wook, Director of the Startup and Venture Innovation Office at the Ministry of SMEs and Startups, Kim Kyung-hoon, President of Google Korea, and Mike Kim, General Manager of Google Startup Campus Asia Pacific, to celebrate the event.
Next, representatives from ‘Wanted Lab’ and ‘Liner’, alumni of Google Startup Campus, shared innovative cases of domestic AI startups, and a panel talk with Silicon Valley leaders on the future of AI product development and a talk session sharing global insights from major startups in the Asia-Pacific region were also held, creating an opportunity for in-depth discussions.
Within the event venue, there were networking booths where startup officials could freely interact, and domestic AI startups from the AI Academy and Google for Startups accelerator programs, such as 'AI for Pet', 'smoretalk', and 'Hudson AI', also operated exhibition booths introducing application cases utilizing Google's 'Gemini'. In addition, 'Campus Pocha', a networking program where founders, investors, and experts gathered to interact and share insights, was also held.
Karen Pfister, global director of Google for Startups Campus Seoul, said, “For the past 10 years, Google for Startups Campus Seoul has supported the launch and growth of numerous Korean entrepreneurs,” and “As AI is a core technology of the future startup ecosystem, Google’s products, people, and expertise will serve as a solid stepping stone for promising Korean entrepreneurs to succeed on the global stage.”
Lim Jeong-wook, Director of the Startup and Venture Innovation Office at the Ministry of SMEs and Startups, said, “I think it is very meaningful that we have maintained a close partnership with Google through the ‘Changgu’ program, which is a representative example of public-private cooperation and the unwavering support of Google Startup Campus over the past 10 years,” and “We will continue to strengthen our partnership with Google and support domestic startups, especially innovative companies in the AI field, to expand into the global market.”

イム・ジョンウク中小ベンチャー企業部創業ベンチャー革新室長は「過去10年間グーグルスタートアップキャンパスの揺らぎのない支援と民官協力の代表事例である「窓口」プログラムを通じてグーグルと緊密なパートナーシップを続けてきたことを非常に重要に考える」とし、「今後もグーグルとのパートナーシップイノベーション企業がグローバル市場に広がるように支援する」と話した。

Google a annoncé qu'il organisait le « Startup AI Festival » pour commémorer le 10e anniversaire de l'ouverture du « Google for Startups Campus » situé à Samseong-dong, Séoul, et pour revenir sur le voyage qu'il a parcouru avec l'écosystème des startups coréennes au cours des 10 dernières années et découvrir ensemble de nouvelles opportunités à l'ère de l'IA.
Le Google for Startups Campus, ouvert en 2015, est le site phare du Google for Startups Campus et s'est imposé comme un espace physique pour soutenir l'écosystème de startups coréen en pleine croissance et une passerelle vers le réseau mondial.
Google Startup Campus a également mis en œuvre divers programmes de soutien aux startups tels que « AI Academy » au cours des 10 dernières années, « AI Startup School » avec Séoul et Busan, etc., et a fourni un mentorat technologique, une connexion au réseau mondial, un support d'infrastructure cloud, etc. De plus, en tant que centre communautaire de connaissances où les fondateurs, les investisseurs, les développeurs et les experts peuvent interagir activement, il a créé diverses opportunités dans l'écosystème des startups nationales basées sur les ressources et le réseau de Google, et a activement soutenu l'entrée des startups nationales sur le marché mondial.
