Rex Innovation (CEO Jeongmin Lim) , a renewable energy full-cycle platform company, announced on the 19th that it has upgraded the quality, environment, and safety management system for small hydro power plant EPC (engineering, procurement, and construction) projects in accordance with the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) standards and acquired three major integrated certifications: ISO 9001 (quality management), ISO 14001 (environmental management), and ISO 45001 (safety and health management).
This certification is the result of Rex Innovation officially proving to the public that it has a quality, environment, and safety management system that complies with ESG (Environment, Society, and Governance) management principles for all of its small hydropower plant EPC projects being promoted domestically and internationally.
EPC (Engineering, Procurement, Construction) is a method that integrates design (Engineering), procurement of materials and equipment (Procurement), and construction (Construction). When constructing energy infrastructure such as power plants, a high level of completion is required across the board, including technical prowess, quality and safety management, and project execution capabilities.
In particular, this ISO certification reflects the achievements of Rex Innovation in systematically building quality, environment, and safety management capabilities in line with international standards during the process of carrying out a demonstration project for ‘torque control technology according to flow fluctuation’ applied to a local small hydroelectric power plant in Kyrgyzstan as part of the ‘Green Technology Overseas Demonstration Project’ of the Korea Environmental Industry & Technology Institute.
This demonstration technology is a key control technology for stably maintaining the efficiency of the turbine even with rapidly changing inflow rates, and is evaluated as a customized green technology that takes into account the natural environment of Central Asia, which has high mountainous areas and large seasonal flow fluctuations.
Rex Innovation is currently carrying out EPC projects for small hydropower plants in Kichkemin, Chonkizlsu, and Karakol, Kyrgyzstan, and is also preparing to expand into the African regions of Congo and Uganda. These regions are experiencing a lack of power infrastructure and high demand for eco-friendly power sources. Rex Innovation plans to contribute to local energy self-sufficiency and the expansion of eco-friendly power sources by building small hydropower-based microgrids.
CEO Lim Jeong-min said, “These three ISO certifications mean that both our small-scale hydropower EPC business and technology verification process comply with international standards, and this is an important milestone for our ESG management internalization and expansion into the global infrastructure market.” He added, “Together with Kyrgyzstan, we will establish a global reference for distributed, eco-friendly power sources targeting countries with low energy accessibility, such as Congo.”
