Wayvis Co., Ltd. (CEO Min-seok Han), a gallium nitride (GaN) RF semiconductor and defense specialist, participated in the '2025 Korea Electromagnetic Engineering Society Summer Conference' held at the Pyeongchang Alpensia Resort from the 20th to the 23rd and showcased its latest research results and technological prowess.
This year's 13th annual conference is Korea's largest academic exchange event in the ICT field. Over 1,700 experts from industry, academia, research, and government participated, presenting over 700 papers and research findings. Founded in 1989, the Korean Institute of Electromagnetic Engineering and Science (KIEES) is one of Korea's leading ICT academic societies, with approximately 13,000 members.
Wayvis operated a promotional booth during the event and introduced Korea's first 0.2㎛ process-based X-band (8-12 GHz) GaN semiconductor high-frequency integrated circuit (MMIC) foundry service. The X-band process can be utilized in various fields such as advanced weapon systems, anti-drone, and 6G satellite communications, and is expected to play a significant role in expanding Wayvis' business areas.
Following the demonstration of the X-band high-power amplifier (HPA) MMIC at the Korea Military Science and Technology Society in June, an X-band switch MMIC demonstration was also held at this academic conference to actively promote the domestic production of defense semiconductors and support for foundry services for research institutes and academia.
Wayvis CTO Choi Yoon-ho stated, “We have recently started receiving orders for high-power GaN RF semiconductor foundries from domestic and foreign customers, and we plan to accelerate our conquest of related markets by opening foundry services for switches and low-noise amplifiers for FEMs (Front End Modules) in the future.”
