IEL Cellion relocates headquarters to Cheonan Smart Factory, establishing a one-stop lamp production system.

IL Cellion, a subsidiary of IL, a leading technology materials company, announced on the 20th that it is relocating its headquarters to IL's Cheonan Smart Factory. Through this relocation, IL plans to establish a full-fledged, one-stop lamp production value chain spanning LEDs and silicone lenses. The relocation is expected to be completed before the Chuseok holiday in October, after which the integrated production system will be fully operational.

This relocation is seen as a strategic turning point, going beyond simple production base consolidation. It will improve operational efficiency, reduce costs, and strengthen global supply responsiveness across the IL Group. IL Cellion previously produced LED PCBs at its Hwaseong plant in Gyeonggi Province, but with the relocation to the Cheonan Smart Factory, it will complete an integrated production system that seamlessly links SMT and silicon lens processes without requiring logistics relocation.

In particular, process integration, which directly connects the LED and SMT processes to silicon lens-based lamp assembly, is expected to enhance competitiveness by strengthening quality control, shortening lead times, and reducing logistics costs. Specific results are expected, including a roughly 20% reduction in logistics costs due to a reduction in component movement routes, a roughly 30% reduction in lead times due to the elimination of intermediate transportation procedures, and an improvement in defect rates through real-time quality feedback across processes.

In May, IL expanded its second factory in Cheonan to meet the growing demand for Korea's first silicon lens-based automotive lamp technology. The new facility, equipped with AI-powered robotic automation equipment based on a smart factory, automates all production processes in a single line. This headquarters relocation will stabilize the production system and establish a foundation for flexibly responding to large-scale orders from global automakers.

An IL official said, “IL Cellion’s relocation to the Cheonan Smart Factory is a key step in the value chain innovation that IL Group is pursuing,” and added, “Through a one-stop production system, we will simultaneously secure quality, delivery, and cost competitiveness, and strengthen our position in the global market.”
