Gangwon Creative Economy Innovation Center (CEO Hae-Jeong Lee) announced on the 26th that it officially launched the 'Gangwon AX Committee' at the Gangwon Innovation Center Forest Hall and took the first step toward building an artificial intelligence transformation (AI Transformation, hereinafter referred to as AX) ecosystem in the Gangwon region.
AX is a strategy that applies AI technology across industries to streamline business models and foster innovation. It has recently seen rapid growth in market demand and policy interest. The Ministry of SMEs and Startups has announced plans to increase AI utilization among SMEs from 28% in 2023 to 50% by 2027 and to expand AX technology to key regional industries.
Launched in line with this policy trend, the Gangwon AX Committee aims to foster a foundation for cooperation among relevant organizations within the region and to promote AI transformation within the industry by discovering promising startups and fostering connections between companies.
The committee is comprised of approximately 10 public and private experts, including the Gangwon Special Self-Governing Province Industry Bureau, Gangwon Regional SMEs and Startups Agency, Hallym University AI Convergence Research Institute, Kangwon National University Gangwon Intelligence Innovation Center, Gangwon Technopark Gangwon Digital Innovation Center, Kangneung-Wonju National University Gangwon ICT Convergence Research Institute, and private companies Thezone Biz On, Geovision, Geomax Soft, and The Pick.
The committee plans to share examples of AI technology application in the region through regular meetings and discuss various strategies and implementation plans, including demonstration projects, corporate support, and talent development.
“The launch of this committee will play a significant role in strengthening the competitiveness of local startups and establishing a foundation for sustainable growth for Gangwon industries,” said Lee Hae-jeong, CEO and committee chair of the Gangwon Innovation Center. “We will contribute to revitalizing the local AX ecosystem through close cooperation with relevant organizations.”
