Metec Holdings Signs Business Agreement with Hanjung SS

MeTech Holdings (CEO Park Chan-mok), a startup with methane gas measurement and reduction technology for livestock, announced on the 2nd that it has signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Hanjung SS (CEO Lee Kyung-hee), a feed distribution specialist, to create an eco-friendly livestock ecosystem.

Through this agreement, the two companies plan to jointly build an integrated value chain that connects everything from the measurement of cattle methane gas to the distribution of low-carbon feed, certification, and distribution of “low-carbon premium Korean beef.”

Founded in 1996, Hanjung SS is a feed distribution company specializing in domestic forage and hay imported from the US, Canada, Australia, and Spain, supplying a wide range of feed products to approximately 12,000 livestock farms nationwide. Key products include TMF Cubic Feed, the "Hanwoo Master Series" compound feed, single-grain feed, probiotics, and fermented feed, along with over 50 types of feed additives. The company aims to generate KRW 100 billion in sales this year.

Metech Holdings is the world's first company to develop "Methane Capsule" technology, capable of real-time measurement of methane gas in the rumen of cattle. This technology measures methane concentrations inside cattle stomachs 24 hours a day and transmits the data to the cloud for analysis via IoT-based communication.

Through this collaboration, Metec Holdings will provide methane measurement capsules and an analysis platform, quantifying methane reductions before and after feed administration. Hanjung SS will produce and supply high-functionality feeds based on probiotics and prebiotics to farms. It will also be responsible for establishing a feed management model utilizing these feeds, certifying low-carbon Hanwoo cattle, and overseeing distribution.

Based on this model, the two companies will also explore market expansion through low-carbon certification and premium livestock product distribution, referencing overseas expansion cases such as those in Japan.

Lee Kyung-hee, CEO of Hanjung SS, said, “Carbon reduction in the livestock industry is an essential task for sustainable farm operation,” and added, “We expect this collaboration to be a practical turning point that will allow us to pursue methane reduction and productivity improvement simultaneously.”

Metech Holdings CEO Park Chan-mok said, “Through this agreement, we will apply low-carbon livestock technology based on scientific data to the field and contribute to creating a sustainable livestock ecosystem.”
