Confortlab (CEO Kim Ki-joong), a manufacturing operations management (AX) solution company, announced on the 2nd that it has secured pre-Series A funding from Kakao Ventures. With this investment, the company plans to accelerate market expansion and enhance its solutions, which support AI-based operational transformation beyond digital transformation in the manufacturing industry.
Confort Lab is developing the AX solution, which integrates and standardizes diverse data generated on manufacturing sites, converting it into a form amenable to AI analysis. This solution then integrates and provides automation capabilities for core operating systems, including production (MES), equipment (EAM), quality (QMS), and energy (EMS). Specifically, it aims to improve the workflow of small and medium-sized manufacturing sites, which typically rely heavily on manual input and skilled labor, with AI-based quality tracking, equipment failure prediction, and condition optimization capabilities, supporting both productivity and quality improvements.
Confort Lab's core product is PORTA, a no-code AX platform. This platform consists of ▲PortaCON, a facility and sensor data collection device ▲PORTA Neurobase, a real-time integrated analysis engine ▲PORTA STUDIO, a no-code development tool ▲PORTA Apps, an AI-based manufacturing operations management system. Because it significantly reduces deployment time and costs compared to existing solutions, it is being adopted by manufacturing companies of all sizes.
Currently, PORTA is being used by a major Japanese electronics manufacturer's digital transformation project in its Korean factory, as well as by a major domestic interior materials supplier and small and medium-sized manufacturers in the automotive, food, and packaging industries. It is being evaluated as lowering the barrier to entry for digital transformation in the field while enhancing compatibility and usability.
Confort Lab plans to expand its customer base, focusing on small and medium-sized manufacturers, while also strengthening collaboration with large corporations seeking to improve productivity. In particular, considering the rapidly growing demand for AI transformation in the global market, the company plans to accelerate its overseas expansion.
Confort Lab is comprised of CEO Kim Ki-joong, who has experience building industrial systems at TmaxSoft, Doosan Energy, and SAP Labs, as well as experts in various fields, including global marketing and cloud systems. The team is recognized for its deep understanding of the manufacturing environment and requirements and its ability to deliver integrated, field-focused solutions.
Kim Young-moo, a senior analyst at Kakao Ventures, said, “Confort Lab is realizing data edge integration and building a critical technology foundation that will lead the manufacturing industry’s transformation to AI.” He added, “It has great potential to grow beyond simple automation into a core platform that structures entire factory operations and connects them based on object ontology.”
Kim Ki-joong, CEO of Confort Lab, said, “Real innovation in the manufacturing industry must begin at the majority of small and medium-sized manufacturing sites.” He added, “Confort Lab will continue to develop field-oriented AX solutions to help Korean manufacturing secure future industrial competitiveness, and grow into a competitive industrial platform company on the global stage.”
