
Seoul Bio Hub , established by the Seoul Metropolitan Government and operated by the Korea Institute of Science and Technology (KIST) and Korea University, announced on the 8th that it is recruiting startups in the digital healthcare field to participate in the '2025 Health X-Challenge Seoul' program in collaboration with global pharmaceutical company Novartis Korea.
'HealthX Challenge Seoul' is a digital healthcare competition program jointly hosted by the Seoul Metropolitan Government and Novartis Korea since 2020, and is a domestic linkage program of Novartis' global open innovation competition, 'HealthX World Series'.
The theme of the 2025 contest is "Strengthening Self-Initiative in Healthcare by Enhancing Personalized Care and Accessibility," and the recruitment areas include ▲digital healthcare solutions ▲healthcare fintech, etc.
The two finalists will receive a research and development (R&D) grant of 40 million won per company, along with follow-up support, including mentoring from Novartis' R&D and technology commercialization experts, support for expanding their international network, and one-year residency at the Seoul Bio Hub. They will also have the opportunity to jointly develop prototypes with Novartis Korea.
Eligible applicants are startups or aspiring entrepreneurs established within the past 10 years as of the announcement date. Applications can be submitted online until September 26, 2024. Following document screening and presentation evaluation, the final selection will be announced in October or November.
According to Seoul Bio Hub, companies selected in previous competitions have achieved tangible results, including commercialization contracts, follow-up investment, and collaborations between hospitals and companies, based on their presence at Seoul Bio Hub and Novartis mentoring.
Kim Hyun-woo, head of Seoul Biohub, said, “HealthXChallenge Seoul serves as a platform for domestic digital healthcare companies to collaborate with global pharmaceutical companies,” and “This year, we plan to continue providing various support to promising companies so that they can lay the foundation for overseas expansion.”
