Crit Ventures Makes Seed Investment in Japanese IP Entertainment Company Clink

Crit Ventures Co., Ltd. (CEO Song Jae-jun) announced that it has made a seed investment in CLINK Co., Ltd. (CEO Ma Hyeok-min), an IP entertainment company located in Japan.

Klink is an international startup founded by key producers who worked on popular Japanese animation production projects, including "The Seven Deadly Sins," "Bleach," and "Yo-kai Watch," leveraging their experience in the Korean and Japanese content industries. The company provides a wide range of services, from production committee consulting to joint production, to Korean webtoon and game content companies seeking to enter the Japanese market.

Currently, Clink is providing animation film adaptations and consulting on production for popular Korean webtoons such as "Grave Robbers," "Tempal," "Gaeryuk Nanshin," and "Fist of the King." Clink is also developing new IP projects in collaboration with local Japanese animation production companies, including E&H Production. Furthermore, Clink is actively pursuing game adaptations and collaborations with global Japanese IPs, linking them with Korean game companies, and securing commercial licenses for popular IPs. The company is also actively pursuing global expansion.

With this investment, Klink plans to strengthen its business connecting the content ecosystems of both countries, including the animation of domestic webtoons, the production of new content through collaboration with famous Japanese creators, securing licenses for Japanese merchandising, the production of Korean webtoons based on original Japanese works, and game collaboration projects with popular Japanese IPs.

Crit Ventures decided on this investment considering the growth potential of the animation and global IP markets, and plans to support Clink to lead the cross-media IP ecosystem connecting webtoons, animation, and games, and to participate fully in content distribution and production centered on the Japanese Production Committee.

A representative from Crit Ventures said, “The webtoon industry is evolving beyond simple digital content into a global IP industry,” and added, “We expect Clink to serve as a bridgehead between Korea and Japan with its local network and IP production expertise.”

Director Lee Sang-jin of Klink said, “There are increasing cases of excellent Korean webtoon IPs being produced by Japanese animation production companies and popular Japanese IPs being utilized by Korean game developers,” and “Based on my experience in leading the animation production committee at Dentsu for over 10 years, I will resolve the differences in production environments and work cultures between the two countries and support collaboration.”
