
CRK (Chairman Kang Sung-hee), a subsidiary of Otech Group and a commercial refrigeration and freezing specialist, announced on the 11th that it has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Hanyang University’s Industry-Academic Cooperation Foundation (Director Kang Young-jong) for the advancement of artificial intelligence (AI)-based digital innovation and sustainable cold chain solutions.
This agreement was signed on September 10th in the conference room of CRK headquarters, and the two organizations plan to jointly promote the digital transformation and advancement of the refrigeration and freezing industry by combining Hanyang University's AI research capabilities with CRK's industrial experience.
The areas of cooperation include ▲development of refrigeration and freezing equipment data analysis and AI predictive maintenance system using CRK's integrated control service platform 'CRK SQUARE' ▲joint development of IoT sensor-based data collection and time-series data processing technology such as temperature and power usage ▲verification of AI model performance and applicability evaluation based on empirical data ▲discovery of joint research projects and creation of academic achievements ▲joint hosting of seminars and workshops related to AI convergence technology, etc.
In particular, the AI predictive maintenance system utilizing CRK's 'CRK SQUARE' is expected to bring about practical innovation effects in industrial sites, such as improving energy efficiency, preventing equipment failure, and reducing maintenance costs.
Professor Eun-Chan Kim of the Department of Information Systems and the Department of Artificial Intelligence at Hanyang University's College of Engineering said, "Through this industry-academia collaboration, we will actively apply AI technology to the refrigeration and freezing industry, pursuing innovation across the industry."
A CRK official stated, “With this agreement, we will strengthen our digital and eco-friendly technology competitiveness by incorporating AI and IoT technologies,” and “We will further solidify our position as Korea’s leading total cold chain solution company through continuous research and development and industry-academia cooperation.”
