The Korea Disaster Prevention Association and the Incheon Metropolitan City Chapter of the Construction Equipment Individual Life-Saving Business Association signed a business agreement.

The Korea Association for the Prevention of Serious Accidents (Chairman Jeong Sang-min) announced on the 11th that it had signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Incheon Metropolitan City Chapter of the Construction Equipment Individual Life-Saving Business Association (Chairman Gyeong Gyu-chan) to prevent serious accidents and spread safety culture at construction sites.

This agreement was pursued as part of cooperation between the two organizations to strengthen the safety management capabilities of construction equipment operators, particularly excavator operators, and to establish a practical response system in the event of an accident.

The main contents of the agreement can be summarized into three points: ▲strengthening legal support, ▲expanding preventive education, and ▲easing economic burden.

First, we will provide expert legal advice on serious accidents and safety incidents that may occur at construction sites, ensuring victims and business owners receive legal protection. Furthermore, we will expand preventative safety education programs for construction equipment operators, focusing on reducing accident risks in advance. Furthermore, we plan to develop and offer reasonable insurance products for excavator operators, thereby alleviating insurance premium burdens and providing tangible benefits.

Jeong Sang-min, President of the Korea Association for Severe Accident Prevention, stated, "Strengthening the safety capabilities of construction equipment operators is a critical element in raising the level of safety across the industry. We expect this agreement to contribute to the establishment of effective, field-focused safety management measures." He added, "The association will continue to expand cooperation projects focused on institutional improvement and prevention, rather than providing one-time support."

Construction sites are high-risk industries with a constant risk of serious accidents. When an accident occurs, the damage can be widespread. Therefore, a multifaceted cooperative model encompassing legal, educational, and insurance sectors is considered an effective solution to address safety blind spots.

Incheon Metropolitan City Council Chairman Gyeong Gyu-chan also said, “This agreement will contribute to creating a safer work environment for our members,” and “It will be of practical help to our members as it will enable them to receive prompt legal and institutional support in the event of an accident.”

The Korea Association for Severe Accident Prevention plans to use this agreement as a catalyst to comprehensively promote customized training, institutional support, and insurance design to enhance safety management at construction sites. Specifically, the agreement aims to alleviate the financial burden on construction equipment operators and accelerate improvements in working conditions by raising safety awareness.

An association official stated, “Safety is an investment, not a cost, and preventing major accidents is directly related to a company’s sustainability and social responsibility,” adding, “We will continue to pursue policies and support that can be practically felt in the field.”
