Global AI agent startup Liner (CEO Jinwoo Kim) announced on the 11th that it will release two new research AI agents to improve the quality and efficiency of academic research.

The new research AI agents are " Peer Review," which simulates the peer review process before paper submission using AI, and "Survey Simulator," which conducts virtual surveys using AI personas. Through these two new agents, Liner aims to address key challenges researchers face during the experimental design and manuscript finalization stages, thereby enhancing the completeness and quality of their research.

"Paper Peer Review Agent" helps researchers experience the peer review process, which typically takes months before submitting to an academic journal, in just 10 minutes. Five agents synthesize the review results and suggest specific areas for improvement: ▲ Reviewing the originality and innovation of the research; ▲ Assessing the validity and reproducibility of the methodology; ▲ Checking logical clarity and consistency; ▲ Analyzing the research's significance and potential impact; and ▲ Suggesting limitations and future research directions. Researchers can receive comprehensive feedback on their papers as a whole, as well as comments on specific elements like specific paragraphs and citations.

According to Liner's validation results, the peer review agent's evaluations were over 70% consistent with actual paper reviews from the International Conference on Learning Representations (ICLR), an international academic conference presenting cutting-edge research in artificial intelligence, statistics, and data science. Notably, the agent provides feedback that is on average more than twice as specific as actual reviews, helping researchers address weaknesses in advance and increase the likelihood of publication.

The "Survey Simulator" is a research agent that survey-based researchers in fields such as social science, business administration, and marketing can utilize before conducting full-scale experiments. Researchers can upload a PDF questionnaire and then select 30 to 100 AI personas with various demographic characteristics, such as age, gender, and region, to conduct a virtual survey.

While recruiting a survey of 100 people can take several days and cost, on average, more than $150, utilizing a survey simulator allows researchers to quickly obtain the same data for about $1, offering significant cost savings. With simulations that take less than three minutes on average, researchers can proactively identify ambiguities in survey questions, unexpected response patterns, and weaknesses in hypotheses. They can also iteratively test various design options at low cost, significantly reducing the risk of experimental failure.

Kim Jin-woo, CEO of Liner, said, “Liner is building an environment where researchers can achieve results faster and more accurately by resolving major bottlenecks that occur throughout the entire research process with research AI agents.” He added, “We will advance both categories of accurate AI search services and research agents for the realization of Vibe Research, and provide AI services that contribute to expanding the horizons of human knowledge.”
