Cospo concludes "Come Up in Jeju" program, offering a model for collaboration between technology and tourism startups for global expansion.

Korea Startup Forum (hereinafter referred to as KOSPO) announced on the 12th that it held the startup event 'Come Up in Jeju' for two days from September 10th to 11th, co-hosted by Jeju Special Self-Governing Province, Jeju Tourism Organization, and Jeju Dream Tower Resort Complex.

The event, held at the Jeju Dream Tower Resort Complex, was attended by approximately 100 people, including domestic and international startups, investors, global companies, support organizations, and government officials. Key figures in attendance at the opening ceremony included KOSPO Chairman Han Sang-woo, Jeju Deputy Governor for Administrative Affairs Kim Ae-sook, Jeju Provincial Council Chairman Lee Sang-bong, and Jeju Tourism Organization President Koh Seung-chul.

The event featured diverse programs, including ▲Northeast Asian startup cooperation ▲local startup pitching ▲global expansion strategies ▲investment networking. The keynote discussion explored cooperation in the startup ecosystems of Korea, China, and Japan, as well as ways to address common challenges such as demographic changes, aging populations, and regional extinction through technology and entrepreneurship.

In the startup pitching session, six Jeju-area startups and five companies from the Seoul metropolitan area participated, presenting their solutions and business models. Following that, a preliminary startup team pitching session was held, where Jeju-based teams presented creative ideas and demonstrated the potential of the nascent startup ecosystem.

At the conference session, JD.com President Jean Louis presented examples of technology applications in the global travel industry, and in a session on entering the Japanese market, KOTRA and venture capital representatives shared the characteristics of the Japanese ecosystem and cooperation plans.

On the second day, a panel discussion was held under the theme of "Why Innovate Locally," where entrepreneurs shared challenges and strategies for the sustainability of local startups, policy support, and talent acquisition.

At the end of the event, awards were presented to outstanding startups and startup teams. "It the Company" and "Tag by Company" were selected as the best and outstanding startups, respectively, while "Egg Basket" won the startup team award.

COSPO announced that the startups discovered through this event will also participate in the main event, "Come Up 2025," scheduled for December. This program is evaluated to have confirmed the potential of local startups and served as a bridgehead for future global network expansion.

Han Sang-woo, Chairman of KOSPO, said, “It is important to expand the scope of regional exchange and cooperation to support the growth of startups targeting the global market,” and added, “KOSPO will strengthen its support to help entrepreneurs build sustainable global growth models.”
