New Paradigm Investment (Co-CEOs Sang-Seung Bae and Jae-Hyeon Park) announced on the 15th that it had made a pre-Series A investment in Unit Lab (Co-CEOs Seung-Ho Ha and Seong-Min Ha), a BIM-based customized modular construction solution company.
UnitLab develops and operates an integrated platform that automates the entire modular construction process, from planning to construction, based on digital design technology. Key products include "UnitHaus," a personalized home design service; "UnitBuild," an automated building solution for B2B and public markets; and "UnitPoint," a commercialization platform.
'Unit House' is a B2C-focused product designed to allow users to directly design a floor plan that reflects land conditions, budget, family composition, and personal preferences through the web-based platform 'Unit Maker', and experience everything from real-time quotation confirmation to installation.
Unitlab leverages Building Information Modeling (BIM) technology to decompose space into modules and create a hyper-personalized design system capable of millions of design combinations. This system automates the entire process, from design and production to construction, estimation, and material ordering, minimizing design errors and increasing process efficiency.
"UnitBuild," designed for B2B and public markets, automates the entire process from site analysis to detailed design, fabrication, and construction. It supports shortened construction periods by optimizing building scale and improving construction efficiency. Furthermore, "UnitPoint," a commercialization platform for complex development, offers integrated services ranging from site analysis, profitability review, and master plan development to digital showrooms and pre-sale marketing.
New Paradigm Investment Co-CEO Sang-Seung Bae stated, “Unit Lab is securing differentiated competitiveness through design automation and precise cost prediction technology, focusing on the stable public market and the high-growth, low- to mid-rise apartment market,” adding, “We decided to invest because we believe it can play a leading role in the structural changes in the domestic modular construction market.”
According to the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport, the domestic modular construction market is projected to grow from approximately KRW 800 billion in 2024 to approximately KRW 2 trillion by 2030. The government aims to supply over 3,000 public rental modular housing units annually by the same year, which is expected to drive increased demand for related technology and infrastructure.
Unit Lab is currently expanding its business centered on domestic B2B projects such as Jeju Vacation Complex and Sacheon Resort, while also pursuing global expansion by securing a production base in the Philippines.
Ha Seung-ho, co-CEO of Unit Lab, said, “Customized mass production is possible based on BIM-based space block automatic design technology, and we are currently developing lightweight dry structure technology to prevent inter-floor noise.” He added, “We plan to complete innovative product certification within this year and begin full-scale entry into the procurement market, while also expanding exports targeting countries with high labor costs.”
