Crescom (CEO Jaejun Lee), a company specializing in musculoskeletal artificial intelligence (AI) solutions, announced on the 25th that it signed a PoC (Proof of Concept) contract with the Japanese Autonomous University of Medicine at its headquarters in Bundang, Seongnam on the 22nd to supply its bone age analysis solution, 'MediAI-BA'.
Through this PoC, the two organizations plan to evaluate the clinical validity of MediAI-BA's AI-based bone age analysis results from various angles using X-ray data from Japanese children and adolescents, and verify its adaptability to the local Japanese market.
Established in 1972 by Japan's 47 prefectures, the Autonomous Medical University of Japan (Jiji Medical University) is a public medical school. Its "regional quota system" mandates mandatory service in the region of origin. It operates a large affiliated hospital with 1,132 beds and boasts research capabilities ranked in the top 5% of the CWUR 2025 World University Rankings. Graduates are assigned to medical institutions across Japan, enabling the university to establish a network capable of disseminating proof-of-concept (PoC) results to regional hospitals.
MediAI-BA is a solution that automatically analyzes hand bone (X-ray) images using AI to provide bone age information within five seconds. Currently, it is being used by numerous hospitals both domestically and internationally, including Korea University Hospital and Hanyang University Hospital. The results are linked to the "Onjaram" integrated growth management platform app, allowing parents to view their child's growth data on their smartphone.
Crescom announced that along with this contract ceremony, it also discussed cooperation plans with its local Japanese partner MAPI to enter the Japanese market with its musculoskeletal AI solution.
Lee Jae-jun, CEO of Crescom, said, “This PoC is an important step in objectively verifying the effectiveness of MediAI-BA in Japan’s strict clinical environment,” and added, “Based on this demonstration, we will establish a bridgehead for preparing for Japanese approval and market entry.”
Meanwhile, this PoC project by Crescom and the autonomous medical college was selected for the '2025 AI Voucher Support Project (Global Division)' hosted by the Ministry of Science and ICT and the National IT Industry Promotion Agency (NIPA) and operated by the Korea Association for ICT Promotion (KAIT).
