The Busan Creative Economy Innovation Center (CEO Yongwoo Kim, hereinafter referred to as Busan Creative Economy) and Fukuoka Jisho, Japan, will co-host 'Plug in: fukuoka #2', a Korea-Japan bio startup exchange event, at the Fukuoka CIC (Cambridge Innovation Center) in Japan today.
This event is a bio-startup collaboration platform connecting Busan and Fukuoka, and was planned in conjunction with the 'Fukuoka Maidashi Life Science Lab Project' being promoted by Fukuoka Jisho, which aims to open in early 2026 on the campus of Kyushu University Hospital, a national university in Japan.
Five Korean startups, selected through preliminary recruitment and screening in August, as well as Japanese startups, VCs, CVCs, companies, and research institutes, will participate in various programs, including business presentations and feedback meetings, technology exchanges, collaboration partner exploration, and a Fukuoka ecosystem tour.
Meanwhile, Busan Changgyeong serves as a global strategic hub for the National Creative Economy Innovation Center. In particular, it facilitates global expansion of Korean startups by interacting and collaborating with the startup ecosystems in Japan (Tokyo, Osaka, and Fukuoka). This event is expected to foster practical collaboration between the Fukuoka bio ecosystem and promising Korean startups, as well as establish a foundation for exchanges with global startup ecosystems.
