Kibo activates emergency response system after government computer network fire

The Korea Technology Finance Corporation (Korea Technology Finance Corporation, Chairman Kim Jong-ho, hereinafter referred to as “KIBO”) quickly activated its emergency response system in response to the paralysis of the government computer network caused by the fire at the National Information Resources Service (NIRS), and announced that as of 10:00 a.m. on Monday, the 29th, major customer services, including non-face-to-face guarantee services, were available as usual.

Kibo immediately activated its emergency response system on the morning of the 27th (Sat) when the fire was reported, conducted an analysis and inspection of the impact on its computer system, and held an emergency inspection meeting for small and medium-sized enterprises on the 28th (Sun) to quickly devise practical response measures, such as providing guidance on alternative sites to minimize customer inconvenience and inspecting the offline (face-to-face) warranty support system.

Furthermore, on Monday, the 29th, the first business day after the fire, Kibo shared the status of system restoration with all employees in real time to ensure seamless customer service at the sales site. Most key functions for remote warranty services were restored by mid-morning, minimizing customer inconvenience. Consequently, financial support for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) around the Chuseok holiday is proceeding smoothly.

In particular, Kibo has diversified its electronic data collection system into ▲customer submission (scraping, public MyData) and ▲direct employee collection (administrative information sharing service), which has enabled it to maintain customer service continuity even during this computer network paralysis.

Kibo, which has established and operates its own computer center, has checked that there are no abnormalities in its internal computer systems, including batteries and external agency communication networks, following the fire.

Kim Jong-ho, CEO of Kibo, said, “With the Chuseok holiday approaching, we have quickly formed an emergency response team and made every effort to secure alternatives and restore the system to minimize customer inconvenience and warranty support gaps.” He added, “Kibo will maintain its emergency response system until the government’s computer network stabilizes, and we will do our best to respond quickly even if a service interruption or computer failure occurs in the future.”
