Insera Solutions Selected for the Ministry of SMEs and Startups' "Scale-Up Tips R&D" Program

Insera Solution (CEO Kwon Young-kwan), a domestic precision optical system specialist, has been selected for the 'Scale-up Tips R&D' project hosted by the Ministry of SMEs and Startups.

The project selected this time, "Development of a Laser Precision Steering System for Space Optical Communications," will receive a total of 1.2 billion won in government support for research and development over three years, starting September 1, 2025. Innopolis Partners participated as the operating company for this project.

'Scale-up TIPS R&D' is a government-supported program that helps startups that have achieved certain success enter the global market through research and development and overseas expansion, as an extension of the TIPS program that supports early-stage startups.

Through this project, Insera Solutions plans to develop a PAT (Pointing, Acquisition, Tracking) module, a core technology in space optical communications. PAT modules are essential for establishing laser links between satellites and ground stations, or between satellites, and require high-precision steering capabilities.

According to the company, the PAT module being developed this time adopts a prism-based design, unlike existing gimbal methods, to reduce system volume and weight while simultaneously improving performance. The related technology has already been patented.

In addition, Inserasolution has completed development of the space-compatible Fast Steering Mirror (FSM), a key component of the module. This technology is scheduled for space demonstration onboard the fifth launch of the Korean launch vehicle Nuriho, scheduled for May 2026.

Through this project, Inserasolution is promoting the advancement of precision steering system technology and is considering expanding related technologies to other industries such as defense, semiconductors, and displays.
