Peace Hana selected as 'Lycon' by the Ministry of SMEs and Startups

Peace Hana Co., Ltd. (CEO Ryu Hana), a climate tech bio-social venture, has been selected as a "LICON" company by the Ministry of SMEs and Startups. LICON stands for "Lifestyle & Local Innovation Unicorn," and is a program that identifies and fosters companies aiming to grow into unicorns through lifestyle and local innovation.

Peace Hana is a resource recycling environmental technology company that develops natural functional raw materials and products from local waste resources. It holds over 15 domestic and international patents and intellectual property rights. It holds certifications as a social venture, agricultural and food venture, women-owned enterprise, technology enterprise, and excellent social enterprise, and is recognized as a leader in fostering a sustainable ecosystem based on ESG.

Early in the COVID-19 pandemic, Peace Hana garnered attention by developing washable functional masks and a plant-based disinfectant using Jeju citrus extracts, which they donated to medical institutions and welfare facilities. Since then, they have developed a variety of products, including antibacterial functional fibers that combat everyday harmful substances, food-safe detergents, and hypoallergenic allergy care materials.

In particular, Peace Hana has focused on developing fragrance ingredients utilizing Jeju's non-commercial tangerines. Under the "Peace9" brand, the company is launching natural fragrance products based on agricultural produce. Through these efforts, the company is leading the market for recycled fragrances that can replace chemical fragrances. Collaborations with companies like SRT Goods, Hanwha Resort, and Healience Seonmaeul are further expanding its brand value.

In addition, Peace Hana develops educational, exhibition, and experiential content based on natural and local resources, and operates environmental education and resource recycling programs at elementary, middle, and high schools, universities, and alternative schools. It also continues to promote sustainability in partnership with public institutions such as the Seoul Metropolitan Government.

This selection by Lycon is interpreted as a result of a high evaluation of Peacehana's regionally focused business model, product technology, environmental and social value realization, and sustainable growth potential.

CEO Ryu Ha-na said, “Peace Hana’s reason for existence is to enable both people and nature to transition to a healthy and sustainable way of life,” and added, “We will continue to work to solve local problems through resource recycling and nature-based technologies and to have a positive impact on society as a whole.”
