Naver D2SF Makes New Investment in US-based Summer Robotics

Naver D2SF announced on the 14th that it has made a new investment in American machine vision startup Summer Robotics.

Summer Robotics, a California-based startup, led this Series A funding round with participation from Applied Ventures and Naver D2SF. Unlike conventional camera-based robotic vision sensors, the company utilizes a laser event sensor that detects light responses in microseconds, enabling four times faster speeds, 0.1mm-level precision measurements, and superior power and data efficiency.

The 'Kortx' solution developed based on this technology is being used to automate robot assembly, quality inspection, and parts handling tasks in dynamic and unstructured environments in various industrial fields such as manufacturing, logistics, automobiles, and semiconductors.

Summer Robotics' co-founders have over 20 years of research and product development experience in AI, machine vision, and robotics. Skylar Cullen, CEO, said, "Korea is a key market for advanced manufacturing and innovation, and we will lead the next generation of intelligent automation with our machine vision technology."

Yong-Jeong Park, Director of Naver D2SF North America Investment, said, “Summer Robotics has superior technology compared to its competitors in the field of 3D vision sensors and is innovating high-speed processes in robot manufacturing sites. We expect it to grow rapidly in the global market.”
