Soju Story Signs Business Agreement with Kyungpook National University

Soju Story, a subsidiary of Narasella, announced on the 16th that it signed an industry-academic cooperation memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Kyungpook National University for the ‘advancement and globalization of the K-distilled liquor industry.’

This agreement aims to strengthen the global competitiveness of Korean distilled spirits by applying data-driven research and development (R&D) and fermentation technology to the distilled spirits industry. The signing ceremony took place at the main building of Kyungpook National University in Daegu, and was attended by approximately ten representatives from both parties.

According to the agreement, the two parties plan to jointly pursue ▲ research on the optimal blending ratio and aging method of various types of alcohol and establish a blending operation model ▲ development of new products based on flavor differentiation and global consumer preferences for low- and high-alcohol lines ▲ research on flavor-specific yeast and standard yeast, and development of a dedicated microbial line for low-temperature fermentation and core flavor implementation ▲ exchange of human and material resources and data for distilled liquor research and development ▲ research on globalization and quality standardization of Andong's unique distilled liquor.

In particular, the plan is to combine the research capabilities of Kyungpook National University's Fermentation Biotechnology Research Institute with Soju Story's traditional distilled liquor manufacturing technology to establish a data-driven R&D system and a global quality standard model, ensure consistency in the quality of domestic distilled liquors, and strengthen the scientific foundation for entering overseas markets.

Soju Story sees this agreement as a turning point, highlighting the potential for high added value and global expansion in traditional industries. Going forward, the company plans to leverage Naracella Group's global distribution network to enter new premium distilled spirits businesses, commercialize joint research results, and develop a detailed model for entering overseas markets.

A company representative stated, "This agreement represents a meaningful attempt to integrate scientific approaches and innovative technologies into the distilled spirits industry. By combining Kyungpook National University's research data with Narasella's distribution infrastructure, we will lay the foundation for the K-distilled spirits industry to leap forward as an export-oriented industry." They added, "We anticipate securing a new growth engine by globalizing K-distilled spirits and strengthening the competitiveness of domestic traditional liquors."
