Studio MetaK (CEO Kim Gwang-jip) has been selected for the Scale-up TIPS program, a private investment-led technology startup support program administered by the Ministry of SMEs and Startups. This selection is a testament to Studio MetaK's high-quality, generative AI-based virtual human and AI content production technology, as well as its global market scalability.
Scale-Up Tips is a program where private investors preemptively invest at least 1 billion won in promising companies, with the government providing additional matching R&D funding. Timeworks Investment participated as the operator, and Studio Meta K, with this selection, will receive a total of 1.2 billion won in R&D funding over the next three years.
Studio Meta K is an AI-based video and content production company founded by experts with diverse experience in producing dramas, films, and commercials. They research and develop next-generation video technologies, including AI-based VFX, AI virtual humans that combine generative AI with deep learning, and AI technology for voice, facial expression, and movement synchronization. They are already working on various commercial projects, including dramas, films, commercials, and digital signage. Through this, Studio Meta K is building an "AI video production pipeline" that allows AI to actively participate in the production process of dramas, films, and commercials.
Under the vision of "Technology Empowers Creativity," Studio Meta K is growing into a leading company in the AI film, drama, and advertising production ecosystem.
In addition to this ScaleUp TIPS selection, Studio MetaK has been recognized for its technological prowess and growth potential through numerous government and institutional support programs, including NVIDIA's Enup & Inception, Google's Google for Startups Cloud, and the Korea Creative Content Agency's Investment-Linked Startup Jumpstart Program. Notably, the company recently secured a KRW 3 billion Series A investment from Korea Investment Partners and Timeworks Invest, further strengthening its foundation for AI technology development and global expansion.
Kim Gwang-jip, CEO of Studio Meta K, said, “With this selection as a Scale-Up Tips, we will further develop our AI-based content production technology and secure AI technology competitiveness that is acceptable in the global content industry.” He added, “We will further develop Korean AI drama, movie, and advertisement production technology and create a new creative standard that will be acceptable in the global content market.”
Based on the secured investment funds and government subsidies, Studio Meta K plans to produce various original IP contents, including feature-length animated films, live-action films, and short-form dramas utilizing AI technology, by 2026.
