Ippi CEO Lee Seong-min receives the Charles S. Near Award from the American College of Surgeons and Elbow Surgeons.

Itphy, a company established in the Seoul Bio Hub, a bio-medical startup support platform established by the Seoul Metropolitan Government, announced on the 23rd that its CEO, Lee Seong-min (Professor of Orthopedic Surgery at Kyung Hee Medical Center), received the 'Charles S. Neer Award' presented by the American Shoulder and Elbow Surgeons (ASES).

The Charles S. Near Award, established by the American Shoulder and Elbow Society to recognize outstanding research achievements in shoulder surgery, is considered the most prestigious award in the field, often referred to as the "Nobel Prize of Shoulder." This award marks the first by a Korean researcher in 13 years, following Professor Oh Joo-han of Seoul National University Bundang Hospital in 2013, further demonstrating the international competitiveness of Korean orthopedic research.

In this study, CEO Lee Seong-min proposed a "novel drug delivery method that converts hyaluronic acid into a porous solid support and combines it with atelocollagen." This is a novel treatment strategy for reducing re-ruptures after rotator cuff repair, and has been recognized as an innovative approach that promotes stable healing at the surgical site.

Professor Lee stated, "It's meaningful that our research on reducing re-rupture, a critical issue in clinical practice, has been recognized internationally. We will continue to conduct research that provides practical assistance in patient recovery." He added, "As CEO of ITP, I will strive to ensure that these clinical insights lead to technological innovations, such as our digital rehabilitation platform, 'RingDoc,' so that more patients can experience scientifically evidence-based recovery solutions."
