AI robot technology company XYZ announced on the 24th that it signed an 'AI Robot-Based F&B Service Innovation Memorandum of Understanding (MOU)' with Mom's Touch at the Mom's Touch R&D Product Innovation Center in Myeongdong, Seoul. Through this agreement, the two companies will jointly pursue the construction of future unmanned stores and the development of a next-generation retail platform based on artificial intelligence (AI) and robotics technology.
The main contents of the agreement include ▲joint planning of unmanned robot stores and robot drive-throughs ▲verification of AI voice ordering systems ▲advancement of data-based store operations, etc. XYG plans to implement a "barrier-free" ordering environment that can be used by the elderly and foreigners by applying its voice AI technology.
Through this agreement, XYZ plans to advance its voice recognition-based ordering technology, "Voice Order," and apply it to drive-thru (DT) stores. This technology, a multimodal ordering system based on voice recognition AI, allows customers to place orders using only their voice. It focuses on improving accessibility and convenience for diverse user groups, including the disabled, the elderly, and foreigners.
Currently, Xyzy is developing its own dual-armed humanoid robot and is conducting a demonstration project to verify its applicability in retail environments. The company's long-term goal is to leverage robotics technology to automate retail spaces and improve service efficiency.
XYG CEO Hwang Seong-jae said, “This agreement will be an opportunity to actually apply robot and AI technologies to the restaurant industry,” and added, “We will lead innovation in the K-foodtech industry through various business models such as unmanned stores, smart restaurants, and robot drive-thrus.”
Meanwhile, XYZ recently unveiled the robot cafe 'Barisbrew X' that allows voice ordering and the interactive ordering technology 'Voice Order' at the '2025 Seoul AI Robot Show'. Currently, the 'Barisbrew X MAMSTOUCH Edition' has been installed at the MAMSTOUCH R&D Center and is in pilot operation, and depending on the verification results, expansion to all stores nationwide is being considered.
