Hanbok Life Co., Ltd. (CEO Shin Jun-young), which operates the modern hanbok brand SHEEN:SEOUL, announced on the 29th that it had won the Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism's "Hanbok Person of the Year (Young Hanbok Person of the Year)" award at the "2025 Hanbok Industry Merit Awards." This award is a recognition of its contributions to the modernization and everyday use of hanbok, as well as its expansion into the global market.
The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism annually awards individuals and organizations that have contributed to the popularization and industrial development of hanbok. This year's "Young Hanbok Artist" Award went to a brand that reinterpreted traditional aesthetics with a modern sensibility and expanded them into sustainable design and industrial structures. Shin:Seoul received high praise for reinterpreting the silhouette, patterns, and compositional lines of traditional clothing with modern patterns and materials, thereby embodying the unique aesthetic of hanbok within everyday wear.
Shin Jun-young, CEO of Hanbok Life, said, “I am honored to receive the Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Award,” and added, “I will share the value and beauty of tradition with the world by interpreting it in a modern language.”
Shin:Seoul, with the slogan "EVERYDAY HANBOK," presents a lineup of everyday wear, including jackets, shirts, pants, and coats, that reinterpret traditional details like jeogori (traditional Korean clothing), danryeong (long-sleeved hanbok), and dopo (traditional Korean clothing). Recently, the brand unveiled a collection that combined tradition and modernity, as well as urban and natural elements, at the "25FW–26SS Hi Seoul Fashion Show" during Seoul Fashion Week. It is also garnering global attention through its collaboration with actress Kim Tae-ri and its exposure project in New York's Times Square.
